Patent number: 11737394Abstract: Selectively removable nozzles for inclusion into a grain conveyor may include a ramp and a sidewall coupled to the ramp. The ramp may conform to an inner surface of a conveyor housing and produce a constriction within the housing. The sidewall may also conform to the inner surface of the conveyor housing. The ramp may also include a recess that extends along the sidewall. The recess may receive a shaft of the conveyor. One nozzle may be replaced with another in order to accommodate different harvesting conditions. The ramp compresses grain traveling through the conveyor to provide a continuous flow of grain. The continuous flow of grain provides for accurate measurements of grain characteristics by a sensor located adjacent to the flow of grain.Type: GrantFiled: October 30, 2020Date of Patent: August 29, 2023Assignee: Deere & CompanyInventors: Candace Popp, Douglas G. Temple, Nithin Chaithanya Reddy Choudary, Wolfram Haiges

Patent number: 9516817Abstract: A grain-moving arrangement is disclosed for agricultural combines. An elevator is configured to move grain in a first direction along an elevator path, within an elevator housing, and to receive grain from a first auger at a first location on the elevator path. A grain-moving device is configured to receive power from the elevator in order to move grain received from a second auger in a second direction along a device path, within a device housing, to an outlet of the device housing. Grain moved along the device path to the outlet of the device housing passes through the outlet of the device housing to a second location on the elevator path that is upstream of the first location on the elevator path, with respect to the first direction.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 2015Date of Patent: December 13, 2016Assignee: Deere & CompanyInventors: Douglas G. Patent number: 9510514Abstract: A lockout closure includes an interlock device and a closure panel. The interlock device may be operatively coupled to a moving device and have a movable switch mechanism for interrupting operation of the device. The closure panel may have an engagement surface movable with respect to the interlock device in order to interact with the switch mechanism. The closure panel may be movable between an open position, in which the closure panel is positioned to uncover an access opening, and a closed position, in which the closure panel is positioned to cover the access opening. When the closure panel is in the open position, the engagement surface engages or disengages the switch mechanism so that the interlock device interrupts operation of the moving device.Type: GrantFiled: April 14, 2015Date of Patent: December 6, 2016Assignee: Deere & CompanyInventors: Douglas G. Publication number: 20100071333Abstract: A clean grain conveyor system for a harvesting machine having grain gathering, cleaning and temporary storage capabilities includes a clean grain elevator mechanism, a grain storage tank and a loading auger conveyor for moving grain from the elevator mechanism to a discharge end at the storage tank. The conveyor includes a hollow generally cylindrical tube extending obliquely upwardly from the elevator to the grain storage tank and a coaxially disposed auger journalled for rotation within the hollow tube. A grain flow deflector is fixed to the tube discharge end for minimizing grain scattering outside the tank and for selectively directing the flow of grain from the tube discharge end to compensate for different crops and crop conditions, and to generally center the pile of accumulated grain within the tank.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 22, 2008Publication date: March 25, 2010Inventors: Douglas G. Temple, Brian J. Tank
