  • Patent number: 11934376
Abstract: A database management engine provides a user interface that allows users to access and modify employee information in a database. The database includes entries for employees, and each database entry includes identifying information about the associated employee. A user can request to modify data within database entries, for instance in order to update information associated with an employee. Responsive to the request, the database management engine identifies liabilities associated with the database modification stemming from associated tax laws. Based on the identified tax liabilities, the engine computes the aggregate tax liability owed by the employer and/or employee. Before modifying a database entry, the engine modifies the user interface to include interface elements detailing the computed aggregate tax liability. The user explicitly can be required to confirm the database modification in view of the aggregate tax liability.

  • Publication number: 20230205043
Abstract: An electro-optic device, such as an optical modulator, comprises: a driver for generating a plurality of identical time-synchronized copies of an input electrical signal, and a photonic integrated circuit, including an optical waveguide structure and a plurality of phase-modulating electro-optical modulator segments. Each one of the modulator segments configured to receive a respective one of the plurality of the copies of the input electrical signal. Instead of incorporating a required phase delay between the copies of the input electrical signal into the driver structure, a multi-layer interconnect substrate is provided that includes a plurality of insulating layers alternating with a plurality of conductive layers.

  • Publication number: 20150160670
Abstract: Methods and systems for using distributed energy resources in an electric network are disclosed. In one example, a system for use in controlling an electric network is described. The system includes a plurality of sensors coupled to a plurality of locations in an electric network to monitor operating conditions of the electric network at the plurality of locations. At least one state estimator is communicatively coupled to the plurality of sensors and configured to output substantially real-time estimations of a state of the electric network based, at least in part, on the monitored operating conditions. A management system is coupled to receive the substantially real-time estimations from the at least one state estimator. The management system is configured to control operation of the electric network based, at least in part, on the substantially real-time estimations to facilitate minimizing transmission losses in the electric network.
