  • Patent number: 6809806
Abstract: Apparatus and method for measuring the angle of elevation of the beam axis (90) of a front-looking radar antenna (68). A first fixture (140) has an indicator (120) for indicating angle of elevation and a first laser (148) aimed in a direction that, as viewed normal to a horizontal surface (192) on which the vehicle is disposed, is parallel to the beam axis for shining on a target (144). A second fixture (142) has a second laser (174) aimed in a direction that, as viewed normal to the horizontal surface, is parallel to the direction of forward vehicle travel for shining on the target. The angle of elevation indicated on the indicator is used as a measure of the angle of elevation of the beam axis of the antenna and the azimuth of the beam axis is verified by the two laser beams shining in a predetermined relationship to each other on the target.

  • Patent number: 5367778
Abstract: A device for engaging a vehicle chassis has mounted thereon a pair of tandem axles to be aligned perpendicular to frame rails of the chassis and parallel to one another, the device creating the alignments and having first and second spaced apart pairs of laterally spaced towers for engaging the ends of both tandem axles in a manner to maintain them parallel to one another, structure for supporting a rear end of the chassis in fixed position; and structure for moving the front end of the chassis to a predetermined position relative to the towers and being laser directed to position the chassis perpendicular to at least one of the axles.

  • Patent number: 5058424
Abstract: A wheel end play measuring device including a pneumatic actuator attached to the wheel with its rod in axial alignment with the wheel axle and an indicator associated with the actuator rod to indicate the axial end play of the wheel bearing. Adjustment of the wheel relative to the axle for setting the wheel bearings at the desired tightness is accomplished by tightening the adjustment nut to a solid condition, actuating the pneumatic cylinder to pull the wheel to the outboard limit of the end play, setting the indicator to zero, and backing off the adjustment nut until the desired end play setting is shown on the indicator.
