Publication number: 20240125152Abstract: An anti-theft device for securing an article of merchandise against unauthorized removal from a display counter. The anti-theft device comprises a latch plate and a pedestal having a quick-release interface. The latch plate is configured to selectively couple to the quick-release interface. A latch bolt is disposed within the pedestal. The latch bolt locks the latch plate relative to the quick-release interface. A plurality of retaining arms is configured to receive and retain an article of merchandise. The retaining arms cannot be disengaged from the article of merchandise while the latch plate is locked relative to the quick-release interface. A solenoid is housed within the pedestal and operationally connected to the latch bolt. Publication number: 20140201073Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for managing a document processing device of a consumer. According to one embodiment, a registration request for a managed print service (MPS) plan is received from a retailer selling the MPS plan to the consumer. The MPS plan includes a plurality of credits. The MPS plan is associated with an MPS account of the consumer based on the registration request, and the document processing device is associated with the MPS plan. Data regarding a remaining life of a consumable of the document processing device or usage of the document processing device is received from the consumer. The credits are decremented based on the received data. The provisioning of a replacement for the consumable to the consumer is coordinated in response to the remaining life of the consumable falling below a threshold and the MPS plan including credits.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 14, 2013Publication date: July 17, 2014Applicant: XEROX CORPORATIONInventors: Jack Douglas Jenkins, JR., James D. Publication number: 20100268591Abstract: A system and related method for selectively controlling use of functionality in one or more multifunction devices includes a communications interface in operative communication with a printer and/or a display apparatus. The communications interfaces electronically communicates data with the printer and/or the display apparatus. The data includes a data structure configured to present an advertisement. The data may be print data or image data. The communications interface is operatively associated with an advertisement-credit component which can generate a credit value corresponding to the advertisement. The advertisement-credit component can subsidize multi-function device costs based upon a presented advertisement, e.g., the cost of printing, scanning, faxing, and related consumables including inks, toners and/or papers. The advertisement credit component authorizes use of a predetermined amount of a function with the credit value that corresponds to the advertisement.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 16, 2009Publication date: October 21, 2010Applicant: Xerox CorporationInventors: Shanmuga-Nathan Gnanasambandam, Warren Kleiman, Jack Douglas Jenkins, JR., Dennis C. Publication number: 20080065609Abstract: A method and system for publishing a plurality of books for user access to information includes selecting a plurality of books, converting each book from a publisher's digital form, e.g., by training a tool to detect characteristic features (such as layout, typeface, and hierarchical or organizational features such as chapter headings, captions, drawings and tables), and extracting text or data information of the book tagged with the features. This produces a searchable library database arranged, for example, as an xml database indexed by book structure such that a user may remotely, over the internet or other network, access the database, search desired content, and view an image of a portion of the book with the desired data. The system includes a user registration module to identify an authorized user, and may maintain a personal bookshelf for the user.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 17, 2007Publication date: March 13, 2008Applicant: Books24x7.com, Inc.Inventors: Douglas Jenkins, Geoff Chappell, John Sidlo, Bill Roberts, Steven Smith, Richard LaFauci

Patent number: 4937436Abstract: A magnetically encoded card (2) has a recording track (6, 8) containing data (10, 14, 16, 18) which can be read and re-written by a card reader (30), and a further recording (12) at a much higher spatial bit denisty than the data (10, 14, 16, 18). The high denisty recording (12) is formed using a special write head capable of operating at greater bit densities than the head of the card reader used to write information to the card. The card (2) is deemed valid only if the presence of the high density recording (12) is detected by a read head (34) of the card reader.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 1989Date of Patent: June 26, 1990Assignee: Mars IncorporatedInventors: David Eglise, Douglas A.
