  • Patent number: 9049285
Abstract: Methods, Plain Old Telephone System (POTS) phones, and computer program products are provided for synchronizing client application data, such as names and associated telephone numbers in a phone book, between the POTS phone and a content portal through a Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN). A dial-up data communication connection is established between the POTS phone and the content portal through the PSTN. A determination is made at the content portal that the POTS phone is associated with client application data in the portal database of the content portal. Client application data is synchronized between the POTS phone and the portal database in response to the determined association between the POTS phone and client application data in the portal database.

  • Patent number: 8909201
Abstract: In a communications network, a network access point address is determined that is currently associated with at least one of a plurality of subscriber mobile devices associated with a subscription to an information service. Content associated with the information service is formatted to provide subscriber content that is configured to be used by the plurality of subscriber mobile devices. The subscriber content is broadcast from a transmitter at the determined network access point address to the at least one subscriber mobile device over a wireless network.

  • Patent number: 8509786
Abstract: Methods of routing an incoming call to a mobile telephone received at a wireless enabled private branch exchange (PBX) include issuing a location request query to an element of a wireless communications network to which the mobile telephone may be subscribed, receiving a location request response from the element indicative of a status of the mobile telephone on the wireless communications network, and forwarding the incoming call to a voicemail mailbox associated with the at least one mobile telephone if the location request response indicates that the mobile telephone is not available to receive a call on the wireless communications network. The incoming call is forwarded to a telephone number associated with the mobile telephone on the wireless communications network if the location request response indicates that the mobile telephone is available to receive a call on the wireless communications network. Corresponding communications systems and private branch exchanges are also provided.

  • Patent number: 8208431
Abstract: In one embodiment a pico cell may be used to detect a presence of a wireless device and receive a wireless signal from the wireless device. The wireless signal may then be converted from a protocol used by the wireless device to a converted signal in a protocol suitable for use with a broadband connection. The converted signal may then be transmitted over the broadband connection.

  • Patent number: 8090358
Abstract: Methods and computer-readable media are provided for providing targeted advertising to subscriber devices based on the location of the subscriber device and a set of advertiser-defined and subscriber-defined criteria. In one embodiment, the method includes retrieving location information that identifies the location of the subscriber device. Advertising is matched and transmitted to the subscriber device according to the location of the device. Matching advertising to the subscriber device is based on a set of advertiser-defined matching criteria that matches both the location of the subscriber device and a set of subscriber characteristics stored in a subscriber profile. A subscriber may define a set of parameters within the subscriber profile that further filters the set of matched advertisements.

  • Patent number: 7970017
Abstract: An automatic synchronization method and apparatus that synchronizes data on a peer-to-peer basis across multiple devices. Automatic synchronization occurs on one or more similar user devices from one device to another and does not require synchronization with a central server. No single device acts as a central synchronization server, but all devices on which the application resides and that have the data to be synchronized can communicate with each other directly, or indirectly through other devices that have direct communication with the device on which data is changed.
