  • Publication number: 20130028549
Abstract: A bearing includes a first inner race half and a second inner race half, and a first outer race half and a second outer race half. A cage defining a plurality of openings supports a plurality of rollers. The bearing is assembled by positioning the first inner race half on a mandrel and the first outer race half on a work support, positioning the cage with the rollers supported in the openings adjacent to and concentric with the first inner race half and the first outer race half. The second inner race half and the second outer race half are positioned adjacent the first inner race half and the first outer race half respectively. The first inner race half and the second inner race half, and the first outer race half and the second outer race half are then bonded together to form the bearing assembly.

  • Publication number: 20120315430
Abstract: A decorated part for an assembly includes a decorative skin and a body, the skin wrapping an edge of the body so that adjacent edges of adjacent parts in the assembly do not expose the body. The process for making the part includes first vacuum forming the skin from a film, loading the formed skin into a mold and forming the body against the pre-formed skin.

  • Patent number: 7882761
Abstract: An adjustable steering column assembly with a steering shaft extending through a jacket member. An elongate locking member extends through two opposed sidewalls and a compression member positioned between the sidewalls. One of either the sidewalls or the compression member is fixed relative to the jacket member while the other is fixed relative to the vehicle structure. Spacers are located on opposite sides of the compression member between the compression member and the two sidewalls. First and second abutment surfaces are engaged with outward facing surfaces of the sidewalls and are coupled to the elongate locking member. An actuator assembly moves the locking assembly between unlocked and locked positions. In the locked position, the abutment surfaces bias the sidewalls inwardly to firmly engage the compression member between the spacers.

  • Patent number: 7681423
Abstract: A column lock assembly for a vehicle including a steering shaft rotatable about a longitudinal axis is disclosed. A first abutment defining a plurality of recesses and a second abutment are mounted to the steering shaft. A sleeve is disposed between the abutments with a locking member movable between a locked position preventing rotation of the sleeve and an unlocked position allowing rotation of the sleeve. The sleeve includes a body portion and a first protrusion engaging one of the recesses to couple the sleeve to the steering shaft for concurrent rotation about the longitudinal axis with the body portion being deformable along the longitudinal axis to move the first protrusion from one of the recesses to an other one of the recesses for allowing rotation of the steering shaft relative to the sleeve when the locking member is in the locked position.
