Abstract: An apparatus for cutting a pattern in a sheet material includes a template having a channel with a predetermined shape. The apparatus also includes a cutting device, including a base having one or more projections configured to interact with the channel, a handle coupled to the base and moveable relative to the base between a first position and a second position, and a retractable rotary blade coupled to the handle. The retractable rotary blade is moveable between a refracted position when the handle is in the first position, and an extended position when the handle is in the second position. The retractable rotary blade is configured to cut a pattern according to the predetermined shape of the channel when the cutting device is tracked along the channel while both the handle is in the second position and the one or more projections are positioned within the channel.

In one set of embodiments, an illuminating assembly produces light that is internally transmitted through a light guide portion of the material guide to the illuminated surface. The illuminated surface provides for ready and correct orientation of the sheet material to the desired position for cutting by the material trimmer.

Abstract: An adjustable combination flotation device comprises a support assembly structured to be disposed in an operative position about a user. The flotation device also includes a flotation assembly disposed in a supported configuration with the support assembly, the flotation assembly having at least one active flotation member and at least one passive flotation member. The adjustable combination flotation device also includes an attachment assembly having at least one primary attachment mechanism structured to securely attach the support assembly to a user in a fixed configuration so as to substantially limit displacement of the device relative to the user while the support assembly is disposed in the operative position. The adjustable combination flotation device may also include a protective member disposed substantially within the support assembly and structured to inhibit penetration by an offensive object, such as a bullet, shrapnel, or other projectile.
