  • Publication number: 20070276951
Abstract: A system and method to reduce the time to transfer files from one computer to another over a communications network, such as the Internet, through a client/server architecture includes a sending client, a receiving client, and a repository system. The sending client logs into the server and transmits data such as receiving names and information about a file to the repository system. The repository system directs the sending client to send the file to the repository system. The file that is intended to be transferred from a sending client to a receiving client is partitioned into multiple block portions of the existing file, prior to transfer. Each block subportion of original file is compressed and queued for transmission to the repository system. The compressed blocks are kept in a cue, encrypted, and transmitted asynchronously to the repository system over a selected communications network.

  • Publication number: 20050206233
Abstract: A system and method of controlling a vehicle with a trailer comprises determining the presence of a trailer, determining a vehicle velocity, determining a steering wheel angle, and determining a rear axle side slip angle. When the rear axle side slip angle is above a predetermined value, the vehicle velocity is above a velocity threshold, and the steering wheel is about zero, brake-steer is applied to the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20050209762
Abstract: A control system for an automotive vehicle that has a brake system includes an object detection system that generates an object detection signal and an object distance signal. A controller is coupled to the object detection system. The controller generates a brake control signal proportional to the object distance signal in response to the object detection signal and the object distance signal. The controller controls the brake system in response to the brake control signal.

  • Patent number: 6827776
Abstract: The invention pertains to a method for producing rapid setting cement and to the compositions produced therefrom. The setting time of hydraulic cement compositions comprising Portland cement and fly ash can be accelerated by controlling the pH of an activator slurry used in the composition. The pH of the activator slurry is controlled by non-stoichiometrically balancing the accelerating salts therein such that the activator slurry is alkaline, or having a pH greater than 7. The slurry activator of the present invention generally includes a base component, an acid component, and water. The base component can include any basic alkali and alkaline earth metal hydroxide, or a salt of the acid component. The acid component may include a hydroxycarboxylic acid, preferably citric acid. Mortar and concrete compositions can be prepared with this hydraulic cement wherein the compositions can achieve high strengths in a short time.

  • Publication number: 20040199669
Abstract: A system and method to reduce the time to transfer files from one computer to another over a communications network, such as the Internet, by avoiding the synchronous timing limitations of current transfer methods. A file that is intended to be transferred from a transmitting computer to a receiving computer is partitioned into multiple synchronous block portions of the existing file, prior to transfer. Each block subportion of original file is compressed and queued for transmission to a target receiving computer. The compressed blocks are kept in a cue, encrypted, and transmitted asynchronously to a target receiving computer over a selected communications network. Upon receipt at the receiving computer of any of the transmitted blocks, blocks are decrypted, decompressed, and asynchronously reconstructed into the original file. Since the transmission of blocks to the receiving computer occurs asynchronously, as well as the transmission preparation steps, overall transmission times are improved.

  • Patent number: 6740155
Abstract: The invention pertains to a method of delaying the set time of cement and to compositions produced therefrom. The set time of hydraulic cement mixtures of fly ash pozzolans, specifically Class C and Class F, and Portland cement can be delayed by controlling the pH of a retarder slurry that is mixed with the dry components of the composition. The pH of the retarder slurry is controlled by balancing the salts therein such that the retarder slurry is acidic, or having a pH less than 7. The slurry activator of the present invention generally includes a pH balancing agent, an acid component, and water. The pH balancing agent can include any basic alkali and alkaline earth metal hydroxide, or a salt of the acid component. The acid component may include a hydroxycarboxylic acid, preferably citric acid. Slower setting mortar and concrete compositions having high strength can be prepared with this hydraulic cement.
