  • Patent number: 7131870
Abstract: An electrical connector includes a housing and a plurality of contact modules in the housing. Each contact module includes a mating edge and a mounting edge. Each mating and mounting edge has a row of contacts including signal and ground contacts arranged in one of a first and second pattern. Adjacent contact modules in the housing have a different one of the first and second patterns. The first and second patterns each include pairs of signal contacts and individual ground contacts arranged in an alternating sequence. Each mating edge contact is electrically connected to a corresponding mounting edge contact by signal conductors and ground conductors extending along a predetermined path within the contact module. Each ground conductor has a width transverse to the predetermined path that is substantially equal to a combined transverse width across a pair of signal conductors in an adjacent contact module. The ground conductor shields the pair of signal conductors in the adjacent contact module.

  • Patent number: 7114963
Abstract: An electrical connector is provided that comprises a contact having a straight body portion defining, and extending along, a linear axis. The body portion has one end formed integral with a contact tail that is configured to be joined to a circuit board. The body portion has an opposed end formed integral with a curved engagement end configured to engage a mating connector. The connector further includes an outer shell and a contact retention module. The outer shell has a mating end configured to be joined with a mating connector and has a board-engaging end configured to be joined to a circuit board. The outer shell has an interior cavity opening onto the mating end and an open socket facing the board-engaging end. The contact retention module is over molded about the straight body portion of the contact. The contact retention module is held within the open socket of the outer shell with the curved engagement portion extending beyond the contact retention module into the cavity.

  • Patent number: 5946211
Abstract: A frequency dependent lossy line subcircuit element has a first port (100), a second port (101), and a reference point (102). The lossy line element is configured to represent circuit performance over a band of frequencies. The lossy line element is modeled as a subcircuit comprising a parallel combination network of resistors (11-14), each with an inductor (1-4) in series disposed between the first port (100) and an internal node (103). Inductors (1-4) are proportioned in value relative to each other so as to control the magnitude of the simulated current flow through resistors (11-14) as a function of frequency content of an excitation signal appearing at the first port (100). The subcircuit, therefore, models frequency dependent attenuation for each frequency included in the range.

  • Patent number: 4104521
Abstract: A connector incorporating a corotron which is in the form of an elongate high voltage carrying conductor which creates a high voltage space charge distributed evenly along the conductor length. The connector includes a dielectric channel into which are plugged dielectric end blocks which precisely position and maintain a straight length of the conductor in free space. Means are provided to tension the conductor and to compensate for dimensional changes thereof. Other means provide safe pluggable connection of the conductor to a source of high voltage. The connector is fabricated from component parts readily assembled without the need for special tooling.

  • Patent number: 4034172
Abstract: The disclosure relates to mateable electrical connector block for connecting or disconnecting plural electrical signal lines one at a time when the blocks are mated together or uncoupled as the case may be; with sequent connections being separated from each other a maximum distance across the connector blocks thereby eliminating arcing over between such connections as they are being made or disconnected. The connector blocks further include means for automatically disconnecting residual high voltage from the contacts when the connector blocks are uncoupled from each other and the high voltage carrying contacts become dangerously exposed thereby.

  • Patent number: 4018977
Abstract: The present invention relates to a high voltage cable having a composite dielectric of solid insulation surrounded by an air dielectric. Spacers extend from the solid dielectric and through the air dielectric to maintain a dust cover in radially spaced relationship from the solid insulation and to define the air dielectric diameter.

  • Patent number: 3999830
Abstract: An electrical connector having a dielectric housing and a plurality of internal cavities containing electrical contacts terminated to electrical leads which protrude from the housing is contained within a conductive shell. The shell is bifurcated longitudinally with each shell portion having a lip which interlocks on the dielectric housing when the shell portions are assembled together. Each shell portion includes a pair of flanges on opposite sides. The flanges project outwardly toward an open side of the shell portion to captivate the other shell portion. The flanges also are in laterally offset planes such that the shell portions are identical and when they are assembled their corresponding flanges are overlapped. Fasteners may be used to join the overlapped flanges. Also mounting bolts and the like may be assembled on the overlapped flanges for mounting the shell to a bulkhead or panel. Electrical leads protruding from the assembled shell may be encapsulated within the shell.

  • Patent number: 3977750
Abstract: A ruggedized high voltage connector suitable for mounting in a bulkhead with a variety of configurations. The connector provides a sealed plug and receptacle connection encased within a plastic sleeve having an outer metal mounting flange. The mounting flange is soldered within a metal liner for a bulkhead opening. The solder interface of the liner and flanged plastic receptacle allows various configurations of the plug and receptacle connection.

  • Patent number: 3963296
Abstract: A terminal block for high voltage electrical leads includes a plurality of individual housings into which the terminated leads are received. The housings in turn are pluggably received within cavities of a plurality of modular terminal blocks which are stacked together and interlocked, and which are further mounted along a track. A locking bar partially overlies the cavities in the terminal block preventing removal of the individual housings. The locking bar is resiliently and removably latched to end plates mounted in the track and receiving therebetween the stacked terminal blocks.
