  • Patent number: 7278089
Abstract: A receiver is to receive an encoded data block that was encoded using a convolutional encoder and includes source bits and error detection bits. The receiver may include a Viterbi decoder, a de-mapper and an error detection unit. The error detection unit is to determine whether an error correction capability of the Viterbi decoder is sufficient to recover the source bits from the encoded data block. The Viterbi decoder is to decode the encoded data block only if the encoded data block is not free of errors and if the error correction capability of the Viterbi decoder is sufficient to recover the source bits from the encoded data block.

  • Publication number: 20030101409
Abstract: An error detector comprising an input port for receiving encoded data and an error checking unit for identifying an error detection bit within the encoded data. The error detection unit also determining whether the error detection bit is valid and passing the encoded block to one of a plurality of decoders based on the level.

  • Patent number: 6556128
Abstract: A method and apparatus for reducing power consumption of a receiver is provided. The receiver may have an identification number and may receive a portion of a hailing message in a non-sequential manner. The portion may comprise a segment of a hailed identification number. According to some embodiments of the present invention, the apparatus for reducing power consumption may comprise a comparator to compare between the segment of the hailed identification number to a respective segment of the identification number of the receiver.

  • Patent number: 6031466
Abstract: A method for reducing power of a receiver, having an identification number and receiving a non sequential hailing message containing at least one hailed identification number, wherein the message includes a plurality of lines, each having a code portion and a code correction portion providing error correction of a predetermined number of errors per line, the method includes the steps of:detecting portions of the hailed identification numbers within the received portion of the hailing message, comparing between the portions of the hailed identification numbers and the respective portion of the identification number, thereby detecting mismatches therebetween, andterminating reception of the hailing message if the number of the detected mismatches, for each of the portions of one hailed identification numbers, exceeds the maximal number of errors.
