  • Publication number: 20140284219
Abstract: A room temperature method and electrode for producing sodium metal in situ is disclosed. The electrode has a sodium hydroxide, or another easily electrolyzible sodium containing material, solution on the anode side, a membrane which permits sodium ions to pass through to the cathode where the sodium ions are reduced to sodium metal. This sodium metal is then available to react with other components of the solution on the cathode side.

  • Publication number: 20140260971
Abstract: The preparation and use of polysilazane ceramic precursor polymer to make ceramic membranes to purify small molecules, such as hydrogen, for the purpose of isolating the gas and manipulating its potential as an alternative fuel source composition are described. The disclosed materials are composed of an amorphous form of SixNy, derived from a SixNyHz precursor, with channels interlaced throughout the composition. These channels are formed during the release of H2 gas from the SixNyHz material formed when the SixNyHz material is heated.

  • Patent number: 5858921
Abstract: Glyphosate formulations which are effective even when employed at dosages below the dosage currently recommended for post-emergent herbicidal or plant growth regulant use are described. They are formulated as water solutions or powders or granules of (a) one or more agriculturally acceptable salts of glyphosate, e.g., amine, ammonium, alkali metal, alkylsulfonium, alkylphosphonium, sulfonylamine, and/or aminoguanidine salts of glyphosate; (b) at least one water-soluble long chain aliphatic hydrocarbyl dimethyl amine oxide in which the hydrocarbyl group is a linear or substantially linear saturated or olefinically unsaturated aliphatic group having in the range of about 8 to about 22 carbon atoms; and (c) at least one water-soluble quaternary ammonium halide having in the range of about 8 to about 40 carbon atoms in the molecule.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 28, 1996
Date of Patent: January 12, 1999
    Assignee: Albemarle Corporation

  • Patent number: 5783516

They are formulated as water solutions or powders or granules of (a) one or more agriculturally acceptable salts of glyphosate, and (b) one or more particular types of quaternary ammonium compounds. The quaternary ammonium compound(s) are water-soluble compounds represented by the formula:R.sup.1 R.sup.2 R.sup.3 R.sup.4 N.sup..sym. X.sup..crclbar.wherein R.sup.1 is an aryloxyalkyl group having from 7 to about 16 carbon atoms, R.sup.2 is an alkyl group having in the range of about 10 to about 18 carbon atoms, R.sup.3 is a methyl or ethyl group, R.sup.4 is, independently, a methyl or ethyl group, or an alkyl group having in the range of about 10 to about 18, and X is a chlorine or bromine atom.

  • Patent number: 5132354
Abstract: Preceramic polysilazanes which (1) are composed of silicon, nitrogen, and hydrogen, (2) can be isolated and redissolved in common organic solvents, and (3) are capable of providing a high ceramic yield when pyrolyzed are prepared by reacting a mixture of one molar proportion of a tetrahalosilane, preferably tetrachlorosilane, and at least 4.5 molar proportions of a dihalosilane, preferably dichlorosilane, in an organic solvent. Ceramics obtained from the polysilazanes are nanoporous, amorphous silicon nitride ceramics having high purity.
