  • Patent number: 6201038
Abstract: The present invention provides hydrophilically modified curable silicone dental impression materials comprising an addition curable silicone prepolymer composition and a polymerizable hydrophilic modifier. The addition curable silicone prepolymer in the composition of the present invention comprises blended vinyl terminated organopolysiloxane fluids, an organohydrogen polysiloxane crosslinker, a platinum catalyst, a retarder, filler and optional additives. The cured compositions have a stable hydrophilic nature, excellent mechanical properties, and maximum long-term dimensional stability.

  • Patent number: 6133339
Abstract: The invention describes a transparent, elastomeric dental cement composition suitable for temporary or provisional restorations that comprises: (a) at least one multifunctional oligomer or prepolymer as a binder; (b) at least one finely divided filler; and (c) at least one initiation system for polymerization. The cement has a high translucency which does not alter the color shade of a temporary prosthesis or appliance and great flexibility which allows the dentist to remove the temporary appliance easily and clean both the temporary appliance and the dental tissues easily. The invention also describes a method of using the transparent, elastomeric dental cement.

  • Patent number: 5922785
Abstract: Dental resins and dental compositions utilizing such resins are described. The dental compositions are particularly useful as cavity liners and root canal sealants which contain calcium hydroxide (or calcium oxide) and which are utilized to deliver calcium to exposed dental pulp. The resins, and resin-containing compounds, include eutectic mixtures of polyfunctional salicylates. In particular, the transesterification of a blend of trimethylolpropane and neopentylglycol with methyl salicylate yields a blend of trimethylolpropanetrisalicylate and neopentylglycoldisalicylate, which is contemplated by the present invention.

  • Patent number: 5362769
Abstract: The present invention is directed to orthodontic adhesive formulations, both light curable in the visible wavelength range, and self-curing, for use in the adherence of orthodontic appliances to the surface of etched human teeth. These formulations exhibit a high degree of surface wetting, an available source of leachable fluoride, low polymerization shrinkage, high physical properties and adhesion, and in the light curable embodiment, a post-curing capability.

  • Patent number: 4782101
Abstract: A polyvinylsolixane catalyst paste which comprises up to 20,000 ppm of finely divided platinum black which functions to adsorb hydrogen gas generated in the reaction of said catalyst paste when mixed with a base paste containing hydrofunctional polydimethylsiloxane, said base paste further containing a hydrophilic surfactant.

  • Patent number: 4740159
Abstract: A method of forming a two step dental impression which comprises applying a light curable impression material to a portion of the oral cavity of interest to form an initial impression while exposing said impression material to a source of activating light to set said impression material followed by applying a chemically cured impression material over said light cured impression material and allowed said chemically cured impression material to set and bond with said light curable material and removing the resulting composite impression from said oral cavity.

  • Patent number: 4063360
Abstract: A new orthodontic bracket assembly is disclosed together with a method of attachment to a tooth wherein a metal orthodontic bracket with a perforated base is attached to the tooth by means of a photopolymerizable adhesive applied to the area to which the bracket is to be affixed. Subsequent exposure of the adhesive, including particularly portions of adhesive extending through the perforations in the bracket base, to electromagnetic energy of predetermined wave lengths and intensity sufficient to polymerize the adhesive thereby affixes the bracket to the tooth.
