Abstract: A cleaning utensil comprises a hollow, liquid-receiving handle (10) having an outlet (38), a cleaning head (12) in registry with the outlet (38) and an actuator (42) provided on the handle (10) for opening and closing the outlet (38), the actuator (42) including a valve member (54) which for opening and closing the outlet (38). The outlet (38) may be provided in a surface which interfaces with a detachable shoe (20) provided with a cleaning or scouring element (34, 36, 25) or elements, the shoe (20) having an aperture (40) which registers with the outlet (38) so as to allow liquid to flow to the cleaning/scouring element(s) (34, 36).
