  • Patent number: 4411883
Abstract: A dry aerosol antiperspirant composition containing an astringent powder, an aerosol propellant, and a di(C.sub.8-10 alkanoate) of a C.sub.2-6 alkylene diol such as propylene dipelargonate, and method of using same.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 6, 1975
Date of Patent: October 25, 1983
    Assignee: Colgate-Palmolive Company
Inventors: Divaker B. Kenkare, Durland K. Shumway
  • Patent number: 4113852
Abstract: An improved antiperspirant composition is prepared by spray drying together a mixture of aluminum chloride, aluminum chlorhydrate, and urea. The impalpable powder which is formed is incorporated into an aerosol antiperspirant formulation.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 12, 1975
Date of Patent: September 12, 1978
    Assignee: Colgate-Palmolive Company
Inventors: Divaker B. Kenkare, Durland K. Shumway
  • Patent number: 4110426
Abstract: Nonaqueous compositions, especially cosmetic preparations such as shaving creams, are rendered self-heating by including therein a compound containing at least one boron-oxygen-boron linkage, such as triethoxyboroxine, which reacts exothermically with water or other protic material.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 4, 1976
Date of Patent: August 29, 1978
    Assignee: Colgate-Palmolive Company
Inventors: James D. Barnhurst, Durland K. Shumway
  • Patent number: 4108977
Abstract: An improved antiperspirant composition can be prepared by co-spray drying together a mixture of aluminum chloride, aluminum chlorhydrate, and urea. The co-spray drying technique produces an impalpable powder which may be incorporated into an antiperspirant formulation suitable for aerosol application.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 12, 1975
Date of Patent: August 22, 1978
    Assignee: Colgate-Palmolive Company
Inventors: Divaker B. Kenkare, Durland K. Shumway
  • Patent number: 4088751
Abstract: A packaged self-heating cosmetic, such as a shaving cream, hand lotion, depilatory, facial, or a shampoo, including separate exothermically reactive reductant material, such as 2-thio-4-oxypyrimidine or thiohydantoin or derivatives thereof, and an oxidant, which reacts with the reductant, generating heat. Means are provided for dispensing the packaged reductant and oxidant from separate zones and bringing them into contact with each other so that they react and heat a pressurized shaving cream or other cosmetic product whose constituents the exothermic reaction mixture contacts. The reducing agent employed is preferably 2-thio-4-oxypyrimidine or its tautomer, 2-mercapto-4-hydroxypyrimidine, or alkyl-substituted derivative thereof, and the oxidizing agent is preferably aqueous hydrogen peroxide.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 3, 1975
Date of Patent: May 9, 1978
    Assignee: Colgate-Palmolive Company
Inventors: Divaker B. Kenkare, Frederick W. Gray, Durland K. Shumway
