Patent number: 11671809Abstract: Methods for aggregating Bluetooth profiles for faster connection and configuration are disclosed, including transmitting, subsequent to establishing a connection, a request message to a peer device that indicates support of a fast connection protocol for Bluetooth profiles configuration and receiving a response message from the peer device that indicates the peer device supports the fast connection protocol. After pairing with the peer device, a first list of profile descriptors for a plurality of Bluetooth profiles supported by the device may be transmitted to the peer device and a second list of profile descriptors for a plurality of Bluetooth profiles supported by the peer device may be received. A configuration of a plurality of Bluetooth profiles base, at least in part, on a comparison of the first list of profile descriptors to the second list of profile descriptors may be determined and transmitted to the peer device.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 2021Date of Patent: June 6, 2023Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Akshay Mangalam Srivatsa, Ariane Cotte, Craig P. Dooley, Duy N. Phan, Ganesha Adkasthala Ganapathi Batta, Hyundoo Shin, Kang Sun, Matt I. Gillette, Michael Jason Giles, Robert D. Watson, Sean P. Publication number: 20220353831Abstract: Some aspects of this disclosure include apparatuses and methods for implementing a synchronized short range communication protocol scan mechanism across multiple devices. Some aspects relate to an electronic device including a transceiver configured to communicate based on a short range communication protocol and a processor communicatively coupled to the transceiver. The processor receives one or more parameters from a peripheral electronic device and determines, based at least on the one or more parameters, one or more synchronization parameters. The processor further transmits the one or more synchronization parameters to the peripheral electronic device. The one or more synchronization parameters can include at least a scan offset associated with the peripheral electronic device.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 14, 2022Publication date: November 3, 2022Applicant: Apple Inc.Inventors: Yann LY-GAGNON, Arun UNKN, Chen GANIR, Duy N. PHAN, Langford M. WASADA

Publication number: 20220232333Abstract: Systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for performing a role swapping operation between a pair of non-tethered wireless ear buds after detecting a triggering event. Further, state information can be coordinated between devices, including in connection with performing a role swap between buds in a pair of wireless, untethered ear buds, where one wireless ear bud is in a primary role and is responsible for a connection with a companion device, and another wireless ear bud in the pair is in a secondary role.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 4, 2022Publication date: July 21, 2022Inventors: Sriram HARIHARAN, Ganesha Adkasthala GANAPATHI BATTA, Tad J. DREIER, Christopher S. WIEBE, Ashley N. SAULSBURY, Duy N. PHAN, David J. SHAW, Robert D. WATSON, Augustin PRATS

Publication number: 20220078704Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein relate to reducing power consumption of an electronic device scanning for wireless communication signals while maintaining or even improving an efficiency of the scanning operations. To do so, the electronic device may include more than one scan core, such as a main core and a receiving core. The receiving core may have limited functionality compared to the main core. For example, the receiving core may only receive wireless signals (including scanning for wireless signals). That is, the receiving core may not support certain operations that consume relative high power that are supported by the main core, such as transmission of signals. In this way, operation of the receiving core, either in place of or in addition to the main core, may reduce power consumption of the electronic device by avoiding high power consuming operations, such as data transmission, while scanning for various signals.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 12, 2021Publication date: March 10, 2022Inventors: Sriram Lakshmanan, Tushar Ramanlal Shah, Udaykumar R.
