  • Patent number: 10118209
Abstract: This disclosure presents methods and/or processes for forming a garage door façade using variable pressure. The forming processes, different from common stamping processes, creates a shaded design in a garage door section such that a continuous pattern is realized in the length direction (i.e., the longest side of the garage door section). The forming processes also produces significantly deep and smooth impressions that deform the center of the design. The forming process may be preceded by a texturing process, for example, each garage door section may first be textured and then sent for forming the design.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 6, 2017
Date of Patent: November 6, 2018
    Assignee: Overhead Door Corporation
Inventors: Charles Andrew Haba, Dwayne Joseph Kornish, Daniel Christian, Robert E. Dickerson

  • Patent number: 9598900
Abstract: A stored energy emergency barrier release device comprising a barrier and a barrel member for storing the barrier thereon. The barrel member is rotatable on a stationary counterbalance shaft and a push down shaft. The release device further includes a push down spring coupled to the push down shaft for storing potential energy in order to exert a closing force on the barrier when the release device is positioned from an engaged position to a released position. The release device includes a reset mechanism interfaced with the push down spring for transmitting a lifting torque to the push down spring in response to moving the barrier from a first position to a second position to store energy within the push down spring.

  • Patent number: 7117916
Abstract: A transition shield for a door system (10) having a pair of tracks (15), which include a vertical track section (16) and a horizontal track section (17) connected by a transition track section (18) supported at least partially by a door jamb (11) to prevent objects from entering a transition space defined between the jamb and the transition track section, the transition shield (60) including a plate-like member (61) having a vertically extending forward edge (64) configured to fit proximate the jamb and extending rearward an extent sufficient to overly at least a portion of the transition track section to cover the transition space.

  • Patent number: 7055571
Abstract: A door system (10) used in connection with an opening defined by a pair of jambs (11) and a laterally extending header (12) connecting the jambs, the door system including, a pair of tracks (15) mountable on the jambs, the tracks having a vertical track section (16) running adjacent the jambs, wherein a space (25) is defined between the tracks and the jambs along at least a portion of their length, a door (D) mounted for movement on the tracks and movable between an open position and a closed position, and a shield (30) mounted laterally outward of the tracks and adjacent thereto, the shield extending rearward from the jamb and overlying at least a portion of the tracks along the length of the vertical track section, wherein the overlying portion of the shield contacts the vertical track section along the length thereof.
