  • Patent number: 5565720
Abstract: An industrial electric fan motor has a remote hand set in which both a switch and a motor capacitor are disposed. The remote hand set is connected to a casing of the fan motor by a control cord with a selectively engageable plug. The switch and the capacitor are serviced by disconnecting the hand set from the motor by unplugging it and plugging in a replacement remote hand set.

  • Patent number: 5240378
Abstract: A fan comprises a pair of guard halves which surround an impeller. One of the guard halves is smaller than the other guard half, such that the smaller of the two may be stacked within the larger to reduce the required space for packaging. Due to the inventive construction, the required space for packaging the guard is substantially reduced over prior art structures which have guard halves of approximately equal dimensions. Further, an inventive packing structure is disclosed wherein the individual components of a guard/impeller subassembly are securely packaged relative to each other. In particular, an impeller is positioned within the stacked guard halves, and secured at a relatively fixed positioned by resilient packing materials. The guard halves are preferably formed by a number of radially and circularly extending wires. A plurality of foam blocks are spaced in the stacked guard halves, at positions spaced from the impeller.

  • Patent number: 5130587
Abstract: A modular motor end dome for an industrial electric fan motor has a motor capacitor, and is provided on the rear end with a protective axial cavity in which may be seated the threaded mounting stem and attachment nut of an internally mounted pull chain electric motor control switch. Alternatively, an external 2-speed electric motor control switch can be employed with the modular motor end dome and with a drop cord connecting the external 2-speed electric motor control switch to the motor capacitor mounted in the modular motor end dome, and with the drop cord entering the modular motor end dome through the protective axial cavity.

  • Patent number: 5002462
Abstract: A hinged and quick mount guard for an electric fan. The fan guard includes a concave, dish-shaped rear guard member having an axial opening for the reception of a fan motor shaft, and a plurality of key holes for the reception of thru-bolts on the fan motor for securing the rear guard member to the fan motor. The fan guard includes a concave, dish-shaped front guard member hingedly and releasably retained on the rear guard member.

  • Patent number: 4672234
Abstract: A switch system for overhead electric extension cords for remotely controlling overhead-mounted electrical appliances, such as fans. A drop cord includes an upper end having electrical fittings connectable to an overhead power supply extension cord and the electric user cord, and the lower end of the drop cord includes a switch at an accessible level from the floor. The drop cord switch controls the circuit between the power supply and user cords, and a strain relief cable anchored overhead supports the weight of the switch.
