  • Patent number: 6959306
Abstract: Methods for acquiring and transforming data for business analysis, and computer readable media having program instructions for enabling the same are provided. One exemplary method identifies a set of data sources to be accessed for a user, loads the raw data from each of the accessed set of data sources to raw data type specific locations then verifies the integrity of the acquired raw data. Next the acquired raw data of each of the raw data type specific locations is transformed to a uniform data type and then stored as processed data into processed data type specific locations. Some notable advantages of the discussed methods of acquiring and presenting data for business analysis purposes is the ability to efficiently extract, organize and present the data as requested by a customer over a world wide computer network.

  • Patent number: 6775675
Abstract: Methods for accessing relevant data from data sources for presentation, and computer readable media for the same are provided. One exemplary method defines multiple dimensions. Then data sources are identified that contain relevant information for the dimensions. Next the data sources are accessed through an abstraction layer. The abstraction layer performs the operations of transferring portions of the relevant information to a data structure and displaying the selected portions of the relevant information. Some notable advantages of the discussed methods include the ability to create virtual dimensions by building a hierarchical table structure from data in a flat file. The use of an abstraction layer allows for ease of modification and efficiency in presentation, since only the user requested data is presented. In addition, the customer is provided dynamic reports in real-time, thereby allowing for time sensitive and mission critical business decisions to be made with current data.

  • Patent number: 6611839
Abstract: A computer implemented method for acquiring and presenting data for business analysis, and a computer readable media having program instructions for enabling the same are provided. One exemplary method identifies a set of data sources to be accessed for a user, acquires raw data from the data sources, stores the raw data from the data sources to raw data type specific locations and the verifies the integrity of the stored raw data. Next the acquired raw data is transferred to processed data type specific compartments. The transferring process further includes detecting the data type of each of the raw data type specific compartments and converting the raw data to a uniform data type. The processed data is then transferred to a temporary database where display rules are applied. A requested report is then presented to the customer.
