  • Patent number: 5723789
Abstract: An impact sensor comprising a non-ferrous housing having a passage therein and an end member provided at each end of the housing for enclosing the passage at opposite end thereof. At least one pair of magnetic members is mounted in spaced relation in the passage with the first of the at least one pair of magnetic members being rigidly secured in the housing. The second of the at least one pair of magnetic members is slidably positioned in the passage. Each member of the at least one pair of magnetic members has opposite magnetic poles and are positioned in the passage with a pair of poles of like polarity facing each other and with only the repelling magnetic force between the poles of like polarity serving to maintain the spaced relation between the magnetic members of the at least one pair of magnetic members. An inductance coil is circumferentially mounted about the housing.

  • Patent number: 5186049
Abstract: Angular momentum and banking indicator and acceleration-deceleration and grade indicator for use on trucks, cranes, airplanes, and boats as a multipurpose sensor. A cylinder with a damping fluid includes four symmetrically spaced coils centered radially about a centrally located powered coil in a base of the cylinder and a pendulum suspended from a top of the cylinder which swings over the coils. Coils connected to a signal processing system which provides an angular momentum and banking signal and an acceleration and deceleration or grade indicator signal.

  • Patent number: 5134883
Abstract: A pendulum-type accelerometer for use on trucks, cranes, airplanes, and boats as a multipurpose sensor. A cylinder with a damping fluid includes four equally spaced coils in a base of the cylinder and a pendulum suspended from a top of the cylinder which swings over the coils. Coils connected to a signal processing system which provides an angular momentum and banking signal and an acceleration and deacceleration or grade indicator signal.

  • Patent number: 5094104
Abstract: Rate of turn indicator for a nautical vessel, aircraft and the like indicating the rate of turn or swing in units such as degrees per unit of time from a particular course of travel. The indicator includes a magnetic gyro wheel including a flexible hub rotating about an axis in the same plane as the course of travel, and electromagnetic sensing coils receiving the deviations of strength of the electromagnetic field of the magnetic gyro wheel from an axis on turning from the course of travel. The magnetic gyro wheel includes a plurality of permanent magnets of alternating poles positioned about a circumferential axis of a circular member, and a flexible hub material affixed to the interior diameter of the circular member. The hub is affixed to an axially support shaft. The rate of turn indicator includes a meter connected to the electromagnetic sensing coils through electrical circuitry and a potentiometer for zeroing the meter where the meter indicates the rate of turn.

The hub is affixed to an axially support shaft. The magnetic gyro wheel is in close proximity to a motor driven nonferrous metallic plate and is driven by eddy currents being induced into the non-ferrous magnetic plate, thus produced.

  • Patent number: 4360753
Abstract: Motor, either synchronous or direct current, including at least one drive coil and including a magnetic rotor having at least two concentric rings of magnetic domains of alternating magnetic poles, with each succeeding rotor ring being of a larger diameter than the previous rotor ring. The drive coil is radially movable so as to be positioned over or adjacent to each of the rotor rings.

  • Patent number: 4299127
Abstract: Flexible-hub magnetic gyro wheel including a ring member comprising ferromagnetic material or the like and including a plurality of alternating magnetic poles circumferentially spaced about the ring member, a flexible hub affixed to the interior of the ring, and structure rigidly attaching the flexible hub to a drive shaft, such as the shaft of a motor or a shaft driven by a motor or other drive structure. The structure for rigidly attaching the flexible hub to a shaft consists of a set collar and a set washer on opposing sides of the center of the hub material whereby the set collar and set washer support the magnetic gyro wheel on an axially rotating shaft. The magnetic gyro wheel is suitable for use in a rate of turn indicator, a gyro, or other like instrument designed to sense and respond to a rate of turn or angular velocity applied to the instrument at a right angle to the spin axis of the magnetic gyro wheel.
