  • Patent number: 6131965
Abstract: A door locking system for child-safety door locking systems on an automobile door including a latch and a door lock mechanism. The door handle is incapable of unlatching the door when the locking mechanism locks the latch. The locking system includes a door panel having an opening for receiving a lock button mounted on a lock rod connected to the locking mechanism and movable between locked and unlocked positions. A shield is movable within the opening relative to the lock button and door panel between a retracted inoperative position corresponding to a normal lock mode in which the shield is recessed in the opening for accessing the lock button for moving the lock button between its locked and unlocked positions, and an extended operative position corresponding to a guard lock mode in which the shield extends outward of the opening to shield the lock button in its locked position to prevent access to the lock button for manual movement to its unlocked position.

  • Patent number: 5927775
Abstract: A door locking system for child-safety door locking systems on an automobile door including a latch and a door lock mechanism. The door handle is incapable of unlatching the door when the locking mechanism locks the latch. The locking system includes a door panel having an opening for receiving the lock lever in a guard lock mode when moved to its locked position so that the lock lever is substantially recessed within the door panel. The lock lever and the door panel are constructed such that the lock lever cannot be accessed through the opening for manual movement back to its unlocked position. In the normal lock mode, the lock lever is not received within the opening in the door panel in the locked position so that it is accessible for manually moving the lock lever to the unlocked position. A key lock interconnects the lock lever and a lock rod for selectively actuating the locking mechanism.

  • Patent number: 5676409
Abstract: A door locking system for child-safety door locking systems on an automobile includes, in combination, an automobile door including a latch and a door lock mechanism, a manual door lock actuator and a power door locking mechanism. The door handle is of the type which is incapable unlatching the door when the locking mechanism locks the latch. The door panel has an opening for receiving the manual lock actuator when moved to its locked position so that the manual lock actuator is substantially recessed within the door panel. The manual lock actuator and the door panel are constructed such that the manual lock actuator cannot be accessed through the opening for manual movement back to its unlocked position. The power lock mechanism can be actuated to unlock the door, but only from a location which is remote from the door itself.

  • Patent number: 5415422
Abstract: A rider propelled vehicle includes a frame having a hub portion. Each of two cranks has a crank shaft extending into the hub portion and mounted on the hub portion for rotation relative thereto independent of the other crank shaft. Both of the cranks can be rotated through a top dead center position and a bottom dead center position in which the force applied by the rider to the crank for propulsion of the vehicle is at a minimum. An output shaft extending from within the hub portion is operatively connected to a drive wheel of the vehicle for driving rotation of the drive wheel to propel the vehicle. The output shaft is mounted on the hub portion for rotation relative to the frame and the cranks. A torque transmission assembly interconnecting the output shaft with the crank shafts for transmitting torque from the crank shafts to the output shaft is contained within the frame.

  • Patent number: 5388847
Abstract: A rider propelled vehicle having a drive assembly including pedals and at least one drive wheel mounted on the chassis and operatively connected to the pedals for powering the vehicle. Left and right steering shafts are mounted forwardly of the seat generally at respective laterally opposite sides of the vehicle for pivoting about the longitudinal axes of the shafts. Left and right wheels are mounted on the left and right steering shafts, respectively, for turning about the longitudinal axes of the shafts. A steering assembly for turning the steering shafts about their respective longitudinal axes includes a steering actuator positioned for the rider to grasp and turn relative to the chassis while sitting in the seat to steer the vehicle. The steering assembly and the steering shafts are arranged in a generally inverted-U shape so that the rider's legs may extend through the inverted U to operate the pedals.

  • Patent number: 5188003
Abstract: A power assist device for use with a crank-operated drive mechanism including a pair of crank arms extending from opposite ends of a shaft mounted for rotation on a frame. The crank arms rotate the shaft about an axis with the crank arms revolving about the axis. The power assist device includes an energy storing mechanism mounted on the frame and operatively connected to the shaft for movement with the shaft. The energy storing mechanism stores energy during a first portion of a revolution of the crank arms, releases energy during a second portion of the revolution of the crank arms to assist in driving the rotation of the shaft, stores energy during a third portion of the revolution of the crank arms, and releases energy during a fourth portion of the revolution of the crank arms to assist in driving the rotation of the shaft.

  • Patent number: 4541311
Abstract: A fuse puller includes a central handle portion and a blade fuse fixture at one end having a pair of generally colinear tines, each tine having a barb at its end with a tab like projection extending inwardly to engage the upraised shoulder of a blade type fuse. A center stem extends between the tines and has a generally concave platform surface adapted to receive the barrel of a barrel type fuse. The other end of the tool has a generally flattened hook like projection for sliding insertion between a barrel type fuse and fuse block and pivoting movement under the end of a barrel type fuse to pry out an end thereof. The fuse puller may be a one piece injection molded structure made from a polycarbonate compound.

  • Patent number: 4525664
Abstract: An electronic hand held fuse tester includes an elongated handle member to facilitate grasping of the device during use, a housing member integrally formed at one end of the handle, the housing member enclosing an electronic test circuit with light emitting diodes mounted to a PC board, the PC board mounted within the housing to a pair of pivotally mounted contact members, the contact members adapted to contact the ends of the fuse to be tested, and fixtures at the other end of the handle member to facilitate removal and insertion of replacement fuses.

  • Patent number: 4238133
Abstract: A door-lock button assembly for use on the door of a closed-body automotive vehicle in which a lock button is selectively movable between a door-locking and door-unlocking positions. A housing is mounted on an inside frame element and embraces the lock button, the button being received in the housing when in the door-locking position. The housing includes an aperture, and the lock button includes relatively smooth surfaces exposed through the aperture. The aperture is of a size proportioned to permit manual access to and actuation of the lock button when in the door-locking position and to preclude gripping actuation of the lock button when in the door-locking position by any instrument. The aperture is at least partially defined by lateral housing margins that extend outwardly of the lock button a distance sufficient for precluding effective engagement of the lock button by an instrument extending substantially transversely of the aperture.

  • Patent number: 4159652
Abstract: A drive assembly for a physically propelled vehicle such as a bicycle having a crank arm operatively connected to the drive member for rotating the drive member, and a power arm rotatively mounted on a power axis for relative angular movement between the power arm and crank arm. The drive axis, defined by the drive member, is relatively offset from the power axis. A control mechanism interconnects the power arm and crank arm for rotating the crank arm and drive member, and for accelerating the power arm ahead of the crank arm during one portion of the crank arm cycle and decelerating the power arm behind the crank arm during another portion of the crank arm cycle. A power-adjusting mechanism is connected to the power arm for moving the power axis relative to the drive axis for changing the point in the cycle of the crank arm when the acceleration and deceleration of the power arm occurs.
