  • Patent number: 4825521
Abstract: An external shell of a pump wheel of a hydrodynamic flow unit manufactured from a sheet metal pressed part has, in its outlet-side region, an integral connecting sleeve with a cylindrical centering surface and a centered fastening surface extending thereform, and wherein the connecting sleeve is formed by upsettingly deforming, with the fastening surface being given a cylindrical shape and the centering surface being machined to its required diameter after upsettingly deforming.

  • Patent number: 4704864
Abstract: In a spoked drive wheel for a hydrodynamic torque converter operating with power splitting, having a spoke for connecting a wheel hub to an external ring of the spoked drive wheel, the spoke cross-section is designed in the shape of a wing profile extending along a profile main axis. The profile main axis is transverse to the axis of rotation of the wheel. In this way, the deterioration in the characteristics of the torque converter is kept as small as possible in both power splitting operation and in operation without power splitting.

  • Patent number: 4629042
Abstract: A drive arrangement is provided for a motor vehicle in which a hydrodynamic torque converter is installed in the transmission between an engine and a handshift gear box. The hydrodynamic torque converter is equipped with a stop clutch which is responsive to the rotational velocity of the torque converter. The stop clutch engages when the engine and the torque converter are stopped. After the engine is started, the stop clutch automatically unlocks the component parts of the torque converter, thereby allowing relative rotational movement of the engine crankshaft and the vehicle gearshaft. This arrangement provides a parking brake effect when the gearbox is shifted into a gear.

  • Patent number: 4260330
Abstract: A blade of an impeller for a hydrodynamic torque converter wherein the central flow thread at the point of the leading edge is displaced with respect to a central flow thread at a point of the trailing edge along a smaller wheel diameter as well as by an angle of rotation leading in a direction of rotation of the impeller. The trailing edge is disposed in a radial plane at least approximately perpendicular to an axis of rotation of the impeller. The leading edge of the point of the central flow thread has a leading angle of about 30.degree. to 40.degree. and the trailing edge is inclined in such a way that its corner point at an inner torus, delimiting an inner side of the impeller, is displaced by an angle of rotation in the direction of rotation toward the front with respect to its corner point at the outer torus which delimits the outer portion of the impeller.

  • Patent number: 3986356
Abstract: A hydrodynamic torque converter for vehicles, particularly for passenger motor vehicles, with at least one pump wheel, one turbine wheel and one guide wheel supported on a free-wheeling device, in which the guide blades are automatically adjustable, when the guide wheel rotates, in dependence on the centrifugal force in the sense of a cascade opening with an increasing rotational speed.

  • Patent number: 3934414
Abstract: A hydrodynamic torque converter, especially for motor vehicles, which is equipped with a pump wheel, a turbine wheel and a guide wheel and with adjustable cascade at least at one of these wheels, preferably at the guide wheel; each blade of such wheel is thereby rotatably supported and is automatically adjustable against a spring force by the torque exerted by the circulating flow of the hydraulic medium.
