  • Publication number: 20040214706
Abstract: In the case of the method by which sheets which are printed, in particular, by a digital-printing machine are processed further to produce multi-leaf printed products, the printed sheets are folded at least once to form a folded sheet, and the folded sheets are collated one above the other. The sheets are folded prior to collation such that the folding edge of the folded sheet is located at the top and the folded sheet opens in the downward direction, with the result that the folded sheets can maintain their position prior to collation.

  • Publication number: 20040214709
Abstract: The folding machine includes at least one pair of knife shafts, the knife shafts (22, 24) of which are, in a working position, mounted parallel to each other between two spaced-apart side walls (18, 20) of the folding machine (10). In order, in parallel with the production process, to be able to prepare knife shafts for a subsequent production process, the knife shafts (22, 24) are mounted in a cassette (28) which can be displaced through a sidewall (20) facing the operator from an inserted position, in which the knife shafts (22, 24) are in their working position, into a pull-out position, in which the knife shafts (22, 24) are outside the folding machine (10).

  • Publication number: 20040214707
Abstract: In the method for further processing sheets printed in particular by a digital press for the production of multi-sheet printed products, the printed sheets are folded at least once by at least one folder to form a folded sheet and the folded sheets are collated one above another in a gathering device. The sheets are provided with detection features to be detected by a detection device and the detection device passes on signals corresponding to the detection features to a central control device, which controls at least one folder and/or the gathering device in accordance with the detection features.

  • Publication number: 20040185995
Abstract: In the process for folding a sheet into a folded sheet with a minimum of 16 pages (sides), a first folded sheet (12) with four pages is formed by virtue of the sheet (11) being folded around a folding line (21) running transversely to the feeding transporting direction (30). Continuing in the feeding transporting direction, the second and third folded sheets are formed by virtue of being folded around corresponding lines running along the feeding transporting direction. The third folded sheet (14) can then be deflected through 90° and, thereafter, folded, around its center line (22a, 22b) running longitudinally in relation to the continued-transporting direction (31), into a fourth folded sheet with 32 pages. This process makes it possible to achieve very high sheet-processing speeds.

  • Patent number: 6743161
Abstract: In the case of the method of setting the folding-nip width of a plurality of pairs of folding rollers which are provided on a folding machine, the two folding rollers (12 to 22) of the pairs of folding rollers are brought into contact with one another. A sheet is then guided through between the two folding rollers (12 to 22) of the pairs of folding rollers, as a result of which at least one of the two folding rollers (12 to 22) moves in relation to the other, with a folding nip being formed in the process, it being the case that, for each pair of folding rollers, a measured value corresponding to the folding-nip width is detected as the sheet is guided through. Finally, the folding-nip widths of the individual pairs of folding rollers are set by adjustment of the at least one moveable folding roller (14 to 22) by means of a drive (42), which is connected kinematically thereto, based on the corresponding measured values which have been detected.

  • Patent number: 6699165
Abstract: An apparatus for removing folding box blanks from a folding box magazine and transferring them to between drivers of a conveyor system has a suction rotor with suction cups. The suction rotor is coupled to a four-bar mechanism, which erects the folding box blank along a stationary erecting shunt. By the engagement of the suction cups with a trailing side wall of the folding box blank, which wall stands vertically with reference to the feeding direction, and because of the disposition of the erecting shunt, a high output can be attained with the conveyor system driven incrementally, and folding box blanks can be processed whose front lower edge, in terms of the feeding direction, is located frontmost in the folding box magazine.

  • Patent number: 6637174
Abstract: An apparatus (10) for inserting blister packs (1) into collapsible cardboard boxes (2) has an inserter (40) and a covering tab (58). During a stationary phase of a first conveyor device (15) that supplies the blister packs (1), the inserter (40) and covering tab (58) transfer the blister packs (1) into the collapsible cardboard box (2) supplied by a second conveyor device (11). In order to be able to execute a format change without replacement of the inserter (40) or adaptation of the covering tab (58), the invention proposes driving the inserter (40) and the covering tab (58) by means of servomotors (32 to 34).

  • Patent number: 6269937
Abstract: A conveyor device for erected collapsible box. The conveyor device has a number of conveyor chains with drive ribs for the collapsible boxes. The conveyor chains are made up of chain links that are connected to one another in an articulating relationship. The chain links have guide pins that are guided in an upper and lower guide rail. The conveyor device is made to embody the deflecting regions of the conveyor chains so that the conveyor chains are free of guide elements. This is achieved by a particular disposition of the guide pins and the guide rails. The conveyor device has a particularly simple design and is also suited for small collapsible box formats.

  • Patent number: 5699709
Abstract: A device for severing packing strips having blisters from a continuous film having a transport roller and, at a specific distance therefrom, a stamping device. The stamping device is combined with a stop, against which blisters of the packing strip to be stamped out run. By use of the stop, an always similar position of the blisters within the packing strip is achieved in the case of different expansion behaviors of the continuous film. By use of a buffer zone for a part of the continuous film, matching to different continuous films is achieved.

  • Patent number: 5660022
Abstract: An apparatus for pushing bag packages or similar compliant articles into folding boxes which includes first and second endless conveying devices. Open folding boxes are conveyed on the first conveying device to a bag filling station and the bag packages are conveyed in the region of the filling section in alignment with the folding boxes by the second conveying device. For pushing the bag packages into the folding boxes, a pusher rod in combination with a pivotably arranged lever having a covering tongue are used. Guiding the lever by a contact-pressure element and guide member achieves low loading on the bag packages which permits a simple construction of the apparatus.
