  • Patent number: 4359329
Abstract: An oil separator comprising an elongated horizontally oriented container having an inlet near one end through which an oil-refrigerant vapor mixture can be introduced into the container, the container having outlets near its other end for the separated oil and refrigerant vapor, respectively. A deflector is located within the container in the flow path of the oil-vapor mixture, and there is a demister within the container downstream of the deflector. The bottom of the container constitutes an oil sump, and a partition within the container has an opening in its portion within the sump, the partition carrying the demister at a location above the oil level in the sump. The cross-sectional flow area of the demister is smaller than the surface area of the partition above the oil level. The length of the demister is sufficient to permit oil drops in the oil-vapor mixture to unite with oil clinging to the demister mesh. Two spaced apart demisters may be used.

  • Patent number: 4292058
Abstract: Swirl tube apparatus is provided for separating isotope or gas mixtures containing heavy and light gas fractions. A plurality of swirl chambers are provided which are disposed in facing aligned relationship with respect to adjacent chambers. The respective adjacent swirl chambers have at least one common extraction port for extracting one or the other of the gas fractions. In certain preferred embodiments, the swirl chambers are contained in static tubes, while other preferred embodiments includes rotatable gas bearing supported swirl tubes.

  • Patent number: 4285611
Abstract: Arrangement for retaining at least two approximately mutually parallel extending tubes, including an adapter having an aperture through which the tubes are conducted. A clamping element is arranged in the aperture intermediate the tubes and presses these against the wall structure of the aperture.

  • Patent number: 4284231
Abstract: A device for ducting process gas in a centrifuge block, comprising a hood for sealingly covering the centrifuge block and for defining at least one duct for the process gas. One embodiment has tubes within the hood in communication with connecting openings in centrifuge housings of the centrifuge block. According to a second embodiment, the tubes may be serpentine. A third embodiment has ducts formed directly in the hood, while a fourth has partitioning walls within the space enclosed by the hood for dividing the space into ducts.

  • Patent number: 4276068
Abstract: Swirl tube or chamber apparatus is provided for separating isotope or gas mixtures of a process gas having heavy and light gas fractions intermixed. This apparatus includes a swirl chamber having feed ports issuing tangentially thereinto for feeding processed gas to be effectively centrifuged in the swirl chamber. Extraction elements are provided for extracting the heavy gas fraction from the outer walls of the swirl chamber and for extracting the light gas fraction from the interior of the cylinder near the longitudinal axis thereof. The swirl chamber is a rotatably support chamber which is symmetrically configured with respect to its center. In particularly preferred embodiments, the process gas fed into the swirl chamber also serves to form a bearing cushion for the container, as well as for imparting driving forces to the container to rotate the same.

  • Patent number: 4155305
Abstract: A bending-resistant gripper carriage structure is constructed in a fiber sandwich construction of the gripper carriage support. At least one layer of fibers is provided which may be in a shell-type mode with two layers of fibers each having different directions of elongation, one layer having fibers extending in the longitudinal direction of the gripper carriage support, and the other layer having fibers extending crosswise to the longitudinal direction. Several manufacturing techniques can be utilized such as fiber winding and/or lamination of fiber strips or tubes.

  • Patent number: 4111123
Abstract: A bending-resistant gripper carriage support structure for offset printing machines is constructed of at least one hollow profiled member. In particular, one arrangement includes two hollow profiled members being connected by the bearing blocks of the gripper shaft for mounting the gripper carriage in the printing machine. A further arrangement includes the use of a single hollow profiled member for the gripper carriage support with an internally disposed web structure for subdividing the single profiled member.
