    Abstract: A lamp (50) has a lamp envelope (10) having a body (12) with a bottom (14) having a lead-in accepting channel (18); a seat (22) formed with the bottom (14) adjacent one of the lead-in accepting channels; a light source capsule (51) having two electrical lead-ins (52, 54) extending therefrom and through the lead-in accepting channel (18; and an electrical contact (24) having a first depending leg (26), an intermediate transverse portion (28) including a seat engager (30) adapted to cooperate with the seat (22), and a projecting leg (32) extending away from the intermediate transverse portion (28) and along a side (34) of the bottom (16), the first depending leg (26) being in mechanical and electrical contact with one of the lead-ins (54).

    Abstract: A mount (10) for a metal halide arc discharge lamp has a flare (20) including a barrel portion and a frame (32) comprises a clip (40) attached to the barrel portion (30). First and second side rods (50, 60) spaced 180° apart have distal ends (70) and proximal ends (80), with the distal ends being attached to the clip. First and second spaced apart straps (90, 100) connect the side rods intermediate the proximal ends and distal ends. An arc tube (110) is fixed between the first and second straps. The proximal ends diverge outwardly and engage the inner surface of a dome (14) to position one end of the mount. The barrel portion includes two sealed lead-in wires (120, 130). The arc tube includes an electrode (140, 150) in each end (140a, 150a). No electrical connection is made to the frame whereby the frame is electrically isolated.

    Abstract: A lamp capsule may be formed with substantially parallelepipedial ends including alignments. A metal strap may surround one end, between the alignments, with first and second oppositely disposed affixation areas of extensions. A glass stem has tubular first portion with outside diameter D. A C-shaped clip is mounted upon the tubular first portion. The clip has height H and inside diameter D1 smaller than the outside diameter D. The clip frictionally engages the tubular first portion. A first frame member has a proximal terminus affixed to the clop and a second frame member has a proximal terminus affixed to the clip opposite the first frame member. The first frame member has a distal terminus affixed to the one affixation area and second frame member has a distal terminus affixed to the other affixation area. The first and second frame members and the metal strap provide the support for the capsule.

    Abstract: A mount assembly (10) for an arc discharge vessel has a glass stem (12) having a longitudinal axis (14) that includes a flare (16) with a barrel portion (18) and a seal portion (20) containing at least two relatively rigid stem-leads, (22 and 24), projecting therefrom A relatively rigid wire frame (26) is provided with the frame (26) having a distal end (28) and a proximal end (30). A loop portion (32) is formed at the proximal end (30) and has a diameter substantially equal to the diameter of the barrel (18) and is affixed thereto. The distal end (28) of the wire frame (26) extends away from the barrel portion in a direction transverse to the plane of the loop portion (32). An arc discharge vessel (34, 34a), having a substantially linear configuration and having electrode connections (36) and (38) extending from the ends thereof is positioned on the longitudinal axis (14) and is affixed to the wire frame.

The annulus (52) has at least one mounting tab (54) depending from an outer edge thereof and two spaced apart arc tube-pinch seal-engaging ribs (56, 58) spanning the diameter of the annulus for frictionally engaging the pinch seals. Holding tabs (62) depending from the annulus mount the annulus to a shroud. In a preferred embodiment the ribs (56, 58) have upstanding projections (60) that engage the pinch seals and provide the friction fit necessary for holding the pinch seals.

    Abstract: A spring clip (10) has a base (12) in a first plane and has an aperture (14) centrally located therein. U-shaped projections (16) and (18) are provided on the base (12) and are formed from first and second upstanding walls (200 and (22) and third and fourth walls (24) and (26), at each end of the base (12). A first lip (28) extends orthogonally between the first wall and second wall in a second plane and a second lip (29) extends orthogonally between the third wall and fourth wall, also in the second plane. The second plane is substantially parallel to the first plane but spaced therefrom. Extensions (30) and (32) are formed with the first wall and the third wall and project away from them. The extension are in substantially the same plane as base (12) and at least one flag (34) can be formed with at least one of the extensions. The flags (34) project away from the extensions (32) in a plane transverse to the first and second planes and allow the clips to be attached to a frame.

A mount structure (30) is positioned within the envelope, the mount structure including a frame (32) comprising a spaced-apart pair of side frames (34, 36) extending substantially the length of the envelope (12) and parallel to the longitudinal axis. The side frames (34,36) have middle portions (35,37) carrying an arc tube (38) and a surrounding shield (40), and the side frames further have an upper portion that frictionally engages the inside surface of the cup-shaped top (14), the upper portion comprising two ends (42, 44) extending in a direction normal to the longitudinal axis and having a space (50) therebetween.

    Abstract: A spring clip 10 for assembling a light source to a shroud comprises a base 12 extending in a first plane and having an aperture 14 centrally located therein. Aperture 14 is substantially circular and is provided with cutouts 14a to provide flexibility. Upstanding walls 16, 18, are provide, one at each end of the base 12. A first lip 20 extends orthogonally away from the wall 16 in a second plane and a second lip 22 extends orthogonally away from the wall 18, also in the second plane. The second plane is substantially parallel to the first plane but spaced therefrom. Flags 24, 26 are formed, respectively, with the lips 20, 22, the flags extending away from the lips in a plane transverse to the first and second planes. Extended ends of a light source are accommodated into the apertures 14 and the lips and walls of the clips frictionally engage an interior surface of a shroud.
