  • Patent number: 4694240
Abstract: A switching regulator for supplying current to a load in order to maintain a selected voltage across the load. Current is supplied to the load from a coil which receives a train of spaced trapezoidal current pulses from an energy source. The spacing between current pulses is maintained constant while the duration of the current pulses is varied to compensate for changes tending to vary the load voltage.

  • Patent number: 4580089
Abstract: A switching regulator whose switching transistor is controlled by a pulse width modulator wherein an electronic switch is provided which connects the potential carrying output terminal of the switching regulator with a control input of the pulse width modulator (PWM) as long as energy is flowing out of the smoothing capacitor at the output end of the switching regulator. This arrangement permits detection of the average value of the output voltage without the need for phase integration members.

  • Patent number: 4559591
Abstract: A d.c. voltage converter having alternating energy intake and energy discharge phases. The converter includes a power transformer having a core and at least primary, secondary and tertiary windings associated with the core. A primary circuit including a pulse width controlled semiconductor switch connected in series with the primary winding conducts an energy intake current during the energy intake phase of the converter. A secondary circuit including a smoothing capacitor and at least one rectifier element connecting the smoothing capacitor to the secondary winding conducts an energy discharge current during the energy discharge phase on the converter. Circuit means are provided for connecting the tertiary winding to the smoothing capacitor so that, following the energy discharge phase of the converter, excess energy of the smoothing capacitor in the form of an energy feedback current is fed back into the core until the start of the next energy intake phase of the converter.

  • Patent number: 4352054
Abstract: A dc/dc converter for controlling the current through a load which comprises a switching transistor having its emitter-collector circuit coupled between an input voltage source and the load. A control transformer having first, second and third electromagnetically coupled windings is also provided, the second winding of the transformer being electrically connected between the base and emitter of the switching transistor. A control switching logic circuit selectively generates pulses for determining the beginning and the end of the conducting period of the switching transistor, and a control circuit coupled to the logic circuit selectively short circuits the third winding thereby reducing the voltage across the second winding and driving the switching transistor into its non-conducting state.
