    Abstract: An application unit for the direct or indirect application of a liquid or pasty medium onto a moving material web includes a dosing gap formed as a free jet nozzle. The dosing gap is formed between a leading lip and a trailing lip. The leading lip is adjustable along the length of the application unit in terms of its distance from the trailing lip. A gap adjustment can be carried out during the operation of the application unit by an adjusting device.
