  • Patent number: 8358240
Abstract: According to one embodiment, a system for generating a signal includes a monocycle generator, one or more temporal modulators, and a pulse shaper. The monocycle generator generates monocycles that form a signal comprising pulses, where a pulse corresponds to one or more monocycles. The temporal modulators provide instructions the monocycle generator to create a specific spectral response in the signal. A pulse shaper individually modulates at least one monocycle of the monocycles corresponding to a pulse to shape the pulse.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 13, 2007
Date of Patent: January 22, 2013
    Assignee: Raytheon Company
    Inventor: Eddie R. Brock
  • Patent number: 8285222
Abstract: In one embodiment, a system for identifying a communication device includes a signal generator coupled to a transmit horn and a computing system coupled to a receive horn through a receiver. The signal generator is operable to generate an excitation waveform from the transmit horn such that the communication device passively reflects a response waveform. The computing system is operable to receive the response waveform from the communication device and compare the response waveform to a plurality of reference waveforms to determine the identity of the communication device.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 12, 2007
Date of Patent: October 9, 2012
    Assignee: Raytheon Company
Inventors: Eddie R. Brock, Thomas G. Ribardo, Jr., Darrell L. Young, Yuri Owechko
