Abstract: An apparatus and a method for detecting and indicating severe weather conditions such as wind shear and clear air turbulence includes a sensor for detecting the weather parameter of air temperature differential and a computer for comparing the parameter value with a stored constant value. The sensor can be an infrared scanner in an aircraft or on the ground. When the parameter value exceeds the constant value, a severe weather condition warning indication is generated by the computer as a visual and/or audio signal. The method and apparatus can also include sensor modules for detecting wind speed and direction, barometric pressure and air temperature to be compared by the computer. A steam generator can generate steam bubbles for detecting winds aloft with the infrared scanner or weather radar.

Abstract: A guide assembly for a torch tip for a hand held cutting torch with the guide assembly being operable to locate the torch tip a preselected distance from a workpiece whereby the tip will be substantially precluded from engaging the heated workpiece surface and with the guide assembly being selectively adjustable to vary the preselected distance and being actuable to guiding and non-guiding conditions.

Abstract: A shield for a torch tip for a hand held cutting torch with the shield being generally tubular and adapted to receive the tip in clearance relationship and being adjustable both axially and radially relative to the tip to selectively determine the radial spacing between the tip and shield, and the height that the shield holds the tip from a workpiece whereby the tip will be substantially precluded from engaging the heated workpiece surface.

Abstract: An aerodynamic drag reducer for use on a vehicle having two sidewalls, a roof and a floor is disclosed. The drag reducer forms an enclosure on the rear end of the vehicle whereby aerodynamic drag against the vehicle is substantially reduced. The drag reducer forms an integral part of the rear end of the vehicle and is easily collapsed to facilitate low-speed, inner-city driving. In one embodiment of the invention, spoilers are added to the sides of the vehicle.

Abstract: A truck tractor and trailer combination is disclosed having air deflector shields extending from the cab to the trailer and a drag reducer shield enclosing the rear end of the trailer whereby air drag against the truck tractor and trailer is substantially reduced.
