  • Patent number: 6185279
Abstract: A casing for an electromagnetic radiation source includes a window made of a material that is transparent to the radiation emitted by the source and which includes at least one chamber in which a material that is opaque to electromagnetic radiation can move. The chamber is designed such that the material that is opaque to radiation can be introduced from the exterior of the chamber. Inside the chamber, the material that is opaque to radiation surrounds a region for passage of a radiation beam such that the area of the beam passage region varies as a function of the volume of opaque material in the chamber, by virtue of which parasitic extrafocal radiation is eliminated from the beam.

Date of Patent: February 6, 2001
    Assignee: GE Medical Systems SA

  • Patent number: 4856042
Abstract: The diaphragm comprises at least one chamber in which there flows a deformable material that attenuates the radiation beam, the chamber being shaped so that the attenuating material can be introduced from outside the chamber and so that it can surround the passage zone of the beam inside the chamber in such a way that the surface of the passage zone varies constantly with the volume of the material present in the chamber.

  • Patent number: 4700938
Abstract: An examination table for linear guidance of an examination panel in which the panel is guided by means of longitudinal members rigidly fixed to the panel and formed of the same material in order to obtain a small variation in absorption capacity for ionizing radiation.

  • Patent number: 4561798
Abstract: A telescopic cylindrical tube column in which a first tube is fitted into a second tube. Rollers integral with the first tube engage opposite edges of each of a plurality of openings parallel to the longitudinal axis of the column to interlock the tubes. The rollers are fixed to the first tube at points different from their axis of rotation to allow adjustment of the position thereof.

  • Patent number: 4545571
Abstract: A patient-bearing panel is displaceable in a longitudinal direction (y--y) under conditions which enable the panel to be made entirely of material which is a poor absorber of X-rays and which is also uniform in its absorption. The panel has an end overhanging a first roller by an amount which varies as a function of its longitudinal displacement.

  • Patent number: 4484121
Abstract: A servocontrol permits the alignment of a slave mechanical component with a master mechanical component. A probe measures its distance from the master component and another probe measures it distance from the slave component. A circuit processes a square wave pulse whose duration is proportional to the distance separating the master component from the slave component. A motor is supplied with power until the pulse ends.

  • Patent number: 4085749
Abstract: A syringe for injecting fluid into a body or for removing body fluids is coupled to move together with the piston of a double acting hydraulic actuator having two chambers. For the purpose of aspirating fluid into the syringe, the second chamber of the actuator has within it a liquifiable gas which exerts a constant pressure on the piston. The expulsion of fluid from the syringe is accomplished by the admission of a hydraulic medium under pressure to the first chamber of the actuator. The apparatus also includes a calibrating mechanism which preselects a quantity of hydraulic medium proportional to the quantity of fluid to be expelled from the syringe.

  • Patent number: 3936642
Abstract: An X-ray film-handling arrangement for taking X-ray photographs in which the length of the format is variable, including a movable leaded mask which may cover part of the exposure field and a device for feeding and transporting the film comprising conveyor belts and a so-called indexing belt provided with a marker, which reproduces the movement of the belts. When this marker passes in front of detectors attached to the end of the mask, it causes these to generate control signals which are fed respectively to a clutch and a brake, so as to stop the movement of belts when the film reaches the front end of mask.
