Abstract: A container assembly includes a plastic tub having a flexible sidewall which allows a bottom wall of the tub to be pushed toward the tub upper end, to dislodge contents of the container assembly. An outer housing surrounds the tub sidewall and is joined to the upper end of the tub.

Abstract: An end closure for reclosable packages which is adapted for manual placement over an appropriately sized open package, container or box to substantially enclose a food product therein. The end closure comprises a substantially rectangular resilient end wall having side walls extending down perpendicularly therefrom at each edge. A thin, flexible, pleated sheet overlays the end wall and two opposing side walls. The two sidewalls include expansion joints, and the pleat is substantially coincident with the expansion joints, permitting the end closure to open against a bias when manual pressure is appropriately exerted. The end closure, when held open, therefore fits easily over the package opening. When the manual pressure is released, the end closure closes, forming a tight fit with the sides of the package, effectively protecting the food product from the environment.

Abstract: Disclosed is packaging which includes two separate compartments, a first compartment for storing a flowable product such as cheese spread, and a second compartment for storing a solid product such as crackers. The first compartment, housing the flowable product, includes a lid having a scored portion which is broken upon bending of the packaging along a longitudinal bending region. To prevent unintentional discharge of the flowable product prior to its intended use, such as during shipping or other handling in which the flowable compartment may inadvertently be bent in the longitudinal direction, and thereby rupture the lid at the score line with the flowable product being dispensed therethrough, the flowable product compartment is separably attached to the solid product compartment along a side of the flowable compartment perpendicular to the longitudinal bendable region to increase its rigidity to bending in the longitudinal direction.

Abstract: A food product container comprising upstanding front and back walls, a pair of upstanding side walls, a generally horizontal bottom and an upper mouth portion having a shoulder area sloping downwardly therefrom, wherein the front and back walls have recesses therein which are configured to cooperate with one another to facilitate manual gripping of the container by the hand of the user spanning one side wall of the container, with the user's thumb and one or more fingers opposed thereto engaging opposite recess surfaces. Each of the recesses preferably comprises a recessed panel having an outwardly convex, generally rectangular central portion and a rim angled outwardly from the central portion. A ridge having a relatively small radius of curvature is defined about the outer periphery of the rim. At each upper corner, the ridge has an arcuate configuration and curves slightly outward relative to the depth of the container.

Abstract: A self-contained warming pad characterized by a heating element, an adjacent dose of activating liquid within a frangible container, and a substantially liquid-impervious cover enclosing the element and frangible container and having at least one tortuous air passage therethrough. Features include a cover having thermal insulating qualities, and a frangible container made of a meltable substance having a melting point chosen to control the upper temperatures of the pad. Other features relate to a cover configuration which provides an annular breathing passage, and a porous resilient mass within the pad which provides a substantial breathing capacity. The heating element is preferably an electrochemical element, and most preferably a complex electrochemical element having two cathode layers and one anode layer in a sandwich-like structure.
