  • Patent number: 6366742
Abstract: In a method for improving the printing quality for electrographic color printing, print consumables, particularly toner, are monitored in container-exact fashion and substance-specific information are employed for the control of the printing process. Toner expiration dates for the consumables are identified and noted early at the respective printing location. The consumable contained in the container and the amount of consumable contained is thus stored in machine-readable fashion at the container. An information carrier is provided at the container for non-contacting transmission of data and energy from a data read and/or write station to the container. A transponder that is provided with an individual hardware identifier is provided as the information carrier. The hardware identifier may be employed as a component part of codes for device control. • Patent number: 6055408
Abstract: A printer for printing endless paper webs on both sides has two printing stations with a web turnover station therebetween. The paper web is fed in parallel side-by-side to the two printing stations which are on the same rollers. The drive of the web through the printer is by a positive drive, using pins to engage holes in the paper web, for example, into the first printing station. The drive of the paper web thereafter is by friction drive to permit slippage in the drive to compensate for variations in paper length during heating, etc. The slippage is controlled by brakes or other drag inducing devices acting on one or both of the two portions of the paper web.

  • Patent number: 4780731
Abstract: An electrophotographic printer having an optical character generator and an exposure energy correcting means formed of a light-emitting diode strip for the optical character generator. Upon call-in of a balancing routing, an automatic balancing of the light-emitting elements occurs by use of a photoelement which acquires a radiant intensity transmitted onto the recording medium by every light-emitting element under prescribed normal operating conditions, and which supplies corresponding signals to a control means coupled to the light-emitting element. The control means then assigns every light-emitting element an individual actuation time and stores this in a switching time memory. Upon actuation, every light-emitting element thus supplies the same radiant energy to the recording medium.
