  • Patent number: 11578826
Abstract: A push fit connector system utilizes a locking sleeve which is inserted within an internal tapered section of a cylindrical housing. A pipe end inserted into the cylindrical housing is received within the locking sleeve. Withdrawal of the pipe from the cylindrical housing is prevented as the locking sleeve radially collapses as it is received within a smaller diameter of the internal tapered section.

  • Patent number: 10920812
Abstract: A fastener system is provided that includes a spindle bolt having a threaded section and a tooling interface at a head, a bolt body at least partially mated with the spindle bolt, including an anti-rotation slot and an outer surface, a nut including an interior threaded portion and an anti-rotation extension, and an expandable ring mated with the nut and including a lower clamping surface. In a clamping configuration of the fastener system, the lower clamping surface extends beyond the outer surface of the bolt body, the interior threaded portion of the nut is threadingly engaged with the threaded section of the spindle bolt, and the anti-rotation extension mates with the anti-rotation slot. In an installation configuration of the fastener system, a diameter of the lower clamping surface is less than a diameter of the lower clamping surface in the clamping configuration.

  • Patent number: 8641344
Abstract: A fastener has an integral retention mechanism, which is affixed to the fastener without the need for EDM slots along the length of the fastener. The integral retention mechanism reliably secures the fastener to a panel until it is desired to remove the fastener, in which case the fastener may be easily disengaged without any additional tools. The fastener has an axial aperture having an opening in the tip of the fastener, and axially aligned openings along opposing sides of the fastener which penetrate through to the axial aperture. A u-shaped spring mechanism is disposed within the axial aperture, with a portion of each leg outwardly extendable through the axially aligned openings to provide a retention mechanism.

  • Patent number: 8496422
Abstract: A threaded fastener-nut combination for attaching two work pieces together has means for preventing the intrusion of the fastener threads into the bores of each work piece, thus preventing damage to the work piece which may result from such intrusion. The stud member has a pawl member which extends radially outward to engage an aperture in the nut member, which locks the nut member to the stud member. The engagement of the nut member to the threaded portion of the stud member produces both audible and tactile feedback to indicate that the fastener is properly placed and engaged. Tactile feedback is returned through the emergence of the pawl through the aperture in the nut, and by the rotation of the entire fastener assembly upon the provision of further tightening effort. Auditory feedback is provided through a “click” or similar sound produced when the pawls engages the aperture of the nut.

  • Publication number: 20110182689
Abstract: A fastener system attaches a structural member to a workpiece, the structural member and workpiece each having an aperture for insertion of the fastener system. The fastener system has a nut member having a threaded axial opening, a stud member having threads which mate with the threads of the nut member, and a collet member which is retained on the end of the stud member. The collet member has an unexpanded diameter smaller than the diameter of the aperture in the workpiece so the collet member may be inserted completely through the workpiece. Once on the opposite side of the workpiece, rotation of the stud member with respect to the nut member, achieved either by rotation of the stud member while preventing rotation of the nut member or vice-versa, causes the collet member to expand to a diameter larger than the diameter of the aperture in the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 6796529
Abstract: A strut for propping open the door of an aircraft including an outer tube connected at one end to the aircraft and a telescoping inner member connected to the aircraft door. The inner member is extended out of the outer tube when the door is fully opened and automatically locks in place. The strut can be unlocked by grasping a sleeve mounted on the outer tube, pulling it downwardly while rotating the same clockwise. The strut remains locked until the door is lifted upwardly until it stops thereby unlocking the strut. Lowering the door returns the strut to its stowed position with the inner member received within the outer tube.

  • Publication number: 20040096292
Abstract: A fastener assembly having a bolt having a shaft with a plurality of spaced elongated closed end splines spaced from a like plurality of open ended splines. Each pair of splines are interconnected by a crossover slot of the same or greater depth than the closed end and open ended splines. The entry into the crossover slots is wide enough for ears of a retaining ring that is inserted onto the open ended splines of the bolt shaft to pass through the crossover slots and be forced out of a restricted width exit leading from the crossover slot to the closed end spline thereby trapping the ring on the bolt shaft with the ears reciprocating in the closed end splines.
