  • Publication number: 20140353300
Abstract: The automated local thermal management system (20) includes a plurality of heated clothing articles (22). A first control device (36) with a first microcontroller (52) having a first memory includes a plurality of output drivers (28) each electrically connected to a vehicle power source and to the heated clothing articles (22) for providing an output current to the heated clothing articles (22). The first control device (36) further includes a Bluetooth transceiver (54) to adjust settings and to monitor operation and a first RF transceiver (64). A second control device (74) with a second microcontroller (94) having a second memory includes a pair of buttons (96) and an accelerometer (112) and a thermistor (106) and a second RF transceiver (108) for wireless communication with said first RF transceiver (64).

  • Patent number: 7232187
Abstract: A head restraint system for an automotive vehicle seat includes a headrest carried upon eccentric mounting posts which may be extended telescopically from a seatback and rotated about their base axes so as to reposition the headrest not only vertically, but also horizontally. A sensor mounted in the headrest feeds back the location of an occupant's head to a system controller.

  • Publication number: 20050189805
Abstract: A sensor for sensing when a latch of a child safety seat is coupled to a seat assembly of a vehicle. The sensor may include a first housing member that is mounted to a seat frame of the vehicle. The sensor may also include a second housing member that can move relative to the first housing member. A sensor subassembly may sense the relative movement of the second housing member. The latch of the child safety seat can be snapped onto a ring of the second housing member and subsequently tightened to secure the child seat to the vehicle. Coupling the child seat to the ring moves the second housing member relative to the first housing member. This movement is sensed by the sensor which provides an output signal. The output signal can be processed to provide an indication to the vehicle driver that the child seat has been coupled to the seat, and/or disable an airbag and/or disable a seat movement device.

  • Publication number: 20050016293
Abstract: A sensor package which is reliable, low cost, simple, robust, and usable to input additional seat occupant information to an airbag controller to control airbag deployment, and which is insensitive to cross axis loading of a seat belt. A second housing member is internally interfaced with the first housing member, wherein a suspension system frictionlessly suspends the first housing member springably with respect to the second housing member. A pressure sensor is mounted to one of the first and second housings, and a biasing spring is mounted to the other of the first and second housings in axial abutment with the pressure sensor.

  • Patent number: 6304179
Abstract: An occupant position measuring system (10) comprising: a transmitter for generating a pulse modulated transmitter signal; a receiver for receiving a reflection of the transmitter signal, the receiver being characterized as having a relatively low Q factor; a controller, responsive to the receipt of the reflected signal and for generating an indication of the distance between an occupant the transmitter.

  • Patent number: 6271762
Abstract: An apparatus and method of determining and tracking the position of a main target (an occupant) and secondary targets, comprising the steps of: transmitting a signal T1, of determinable period toward the location of the occupant, generating and storing a first index of data indicative of the time any received signal exceeds a determinable threshold; separating the data within the first index into definable data groups indicative of individual received signals representing potential targets; determining, in relation to each transmitted signal T1, a common group time of receipt Tc for each data group; correlating the group time of receipt to the position of the main target and secondary targets occupant.
