  • Patent number: 11002082
Abstract: A departure device couples to a bit using a connector that facilitates release of the bit from the departure device. The connector may be more millable than the departure device and can transmit axial and torque loads between the bit and the departure device. The connector may include a material having lesser strength or hardness than the departure device, and may be millable by the bit. Another example connector may have connection points with the bit, and a movable member of the departure device may a force to the connector and contribute to releasing the connection between the bit and the departure device. A tensile connector between the bit and the movable member may apply a tension force to the movable member, urging the movable member toward an extended position in which the movable member is aligned coherently with a sloped face of the departure device.

  • Patent number: 10814973
Abstract: An aircraft includes a fuselage coupled to a wing having a dihedral root section with first and second outboard sections pivotably coupled to respective outboard ends thereof. A thrust array is coupled to the wing. A power system is operably associated with the thrust array to provide power to each of a plurality of propulsion assemblies. A flight control system is operably associated with the thrust array and the wing. The flight control system is operable to control the thrust output from the propulsion assemblies and the configuration of the wing. In a thrust-borne vertical lift mode, the wing has an M-wing configuration with the center of gravity of the aircraft located between the outboard sections of the wing. In a wing-borne forward flight mode, the wing has a gull wing configuration with the center of gravity of the aircraft located below the outboard sections of the wing.

  • Patent number: 10583877
Abstract: A torque stick apparatus for driving a personal transporter across a transport surface by positioning the torque stick apparatus against a drive surface is described. The torque stick apparatus includes a tubular housing, throttle control, battery pack, motor coupled to a wheel, and motor controller. The motor controller is coupled to the motor, the battery pack, and the throttle control. The motor controller determines whether to select regenerative braking mode based at least in part on the position of the throttle control. The motor controller supplies power from the battery pack to the motor in accordance with the throttle control when regenerative braking mode is not selected. The motor controller provides power from the motor to the battery pack when regenerative braking is selected. The battery pack and the motor controller are contained within the housing.

  • Patent number: 9929916
Abstract: A resource manager service, system, apparatus and method manages resources for a user group of at least one user by utilizing a resource adapter. The resource adapter serves as a smart proxy to mimic the user of a desktop software application preserving the interaction model with the application. Embodiments of the invention allow integration of desktop software in a distributed enterprise system, as a service, without requiring non-trivial modifications to the application code or to alter its workflows in any material way. A resource manager service, system, apparatus and method treat instances of the resource adapters, smart proxies, as finite but reusable resources that can be allocated and “bound” to a given user for an unspecified duration.
