  • Publication number: 20070234532
Abstract: A process and apparatus for producing compressed, gas-stabilized tampons are disclosed. The gas-stabilized tampons include tampons having preferably multiple folds for improved leakage protection and comfort through improved expansion characteristics. The number of folds can vary from 3 to 20 and greater. The process includes the step of forcing a gas through the compressed tampon. The gas can include steam.

  • Publication number: 20060241555
Abstract: An absorbent article for wearing about the torso and including a member that supports the movement of urine in an x-y plane to enhance the wearer's awareness that urination has occurred by increasing the wetted area contacting the wearer's skin. The member has a permeable body-facing layer and an impermeable layer disposed in a face-to-face arrangement with the permeable layer and preferably is held in close contact with the wearer's skin during use.

  • Publication number: 20060069364
Abstract: A disposable absorbent article including a wetness sensation member and visible highlighting indicating the presence of the wetness sensation member to facilitate an opportunity for the toilet training of the wearer. The wetness sensation member includes a permeable layer and a flow control layer. Urine deposited on the wetness sensation member can penetrate through the permeable body-facing layer in a z direction away from the wearer to the flow control layer. The flow control layer retards the passage of the urine through the wetness sensation member in the z direction while supporting the movement of the urine in an x-y plane to increase the wetted area contacting the wearer's skin and thereby enhance the wearer's awareness that urination has occurred. The visible highlighting is visible when viewing a body-facing surface of the article and may be associatively correlated with an externally visible marking and/or with the concept of toilet training.

  • Publication number: 20050113807
Abstract: A tampon for feminine hygiene that has an insertion end, a withdrawal end, a longitudinal axis, and an outer surface. The tampon is made of compressed fibrous material. The outer surface of the tampon includes a plurality of recessed portions. Each of the recessed portions include a length dimension and a width dimension. The width dimension varies as measured along the length dimension.

  • Publication number: 20050113783
Abstract: A tampon for feminine hygiene having an insertion end, a withdrawal end, a longitudinal axis, and an outer surface. The tampon is comprised of compressed fibrous material. The outer surface of the tampon has a plurality of first surfaces and a plurality of second surfaces. Each of the first surfaces has a distal end and a proximal end. Each of the second surfaces has a distal end and a proximal end. The proximal end of the first surface contacts the proximal end of the second surface to form a proximal vertex. The distal end of the first surface contacts the distal end of the second surface to form a distal vertex.

  • Publication number: 20050113788
Abstract: A tampon for feminine hygiene that has an insertion end, a withdrawal end, a longitudinal axis, and an outer surface. The tampon is made of compressed fibrous material. The outer surface of the tampon includes a plurality of raised portions. Each of the raised portions include a length dimension and a width dimension. The width dimension varies as measured along the length dimension.

  • Publication number: 20050113782
Abstract: A tampon for feminine hygiene that has an insertion end, a withdrawal end, a longitudinal axis, and an outer surface. The tampon is made of compressed fibrous material. The outer surface of the tampon includes a plurality of raised portions. Each of the raised portions includes a first width dimension x and a second width dimension y. The first width dimension x is greater than the second width dimension y.

  • Publication number: 20050113786
Abstract: A tampon for feminine hygiene has an insertion end, a withdrawal end, a longitudinal axis, and an outer surface. The tampon has compressed fibrous material. The outer surface of the tampon has a plurality of recessed portions. Each of said recessed portions has a length dimension, a first side wall, and a second side wall. The first and second side walls intersect one another to form a vertex. The first and second side walls have an angle (?) therebetween. The angle alpha (?) varies as measured along at least a portion of the length dimension.

  • Publication number: 20050113787
Abstract: A tampon for feminine hygiene that has an insertion end, a withdrawal end, a length, a radius, a longitudinal axis, a radial axis, and an outer surface. The tampon is made of compressed fibrous material. A measured portion of the outer surface of the insertion end of the tampon includes a first surface area. A measured portion of the outer surface of the withdrawal end includes a second surface area. The first surface area is different than the second surface area. The first surface area may be greater than the second surface area.

  • Patent number: 5891422
Abstract: An antimicrobial composition containing an alcohol having 3 to 6 carbon atoms which effectively increases antimicrobial activity and particularly a mouthwash composition that is useful in the prevention and reduction of bad breath, plaque and related gum diseases having an antimicrobially effective amount of one or more active essential oils; from about 0.01% to about 30.0% v/v of an alcohol having 3 to 6 carbon atoms; optionally, ethanol; at least one surfactant; and water. The actives not only provide enhanced efficacy but are completely solubilized, thus providing an aesthetically appealing product.
