Abstract: A composition useful as a paint remover, including alkylene carbonate such as propylene carbonate or ethylene carbonate, and an alcohol such as benzyl alcohol. Also, a process for removing paint, comprising: applying a composition containing alkylene carbonate and an alcohol to a painted surface for a time and under conditions effective to reduce adhesion between the top coats and the primer or undercoat of the paint. In another aspect, this paint remover includes dialkyl carbonate and an alcohol, optionally containing a glycol ether. In another aspect, the process includes applying a composition containing dialkyl carbonate and an alcohol. This paint remover may include a thickener, a surfactant, or a corrosion inhibitor.

Abstract: Provided herein are functional fluid compositions useful in hydraulic fluid and gear oil formulations. The formulations according to the invention include a predominant amount of at least one polyoxyalkylene glycol derived from the addition polymerization of an alcohol in the presence of an alkylene oxide mixture which contains a substantial amount of ethylene oxide. Fluids according to the invention exhibit suitable lubricity and stability characteristics and are generally water soluble to a degree sufficient to preclude formation of a sheen on the surface of a body of water into which a fluid according to the invention is brought into contact.

Abstract: Disclosed is a composition useful as a mold release agent, exhibiting viscosities, lubricities and melting points which cover a wide range and fit a variety of types of molding equipment, comprising: a) 5 to 40% by weight one or more water soluble copolymers of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide which are in liquid phase at ambient temperatures; b) 15 to 60% by weight a crystalline polyoxyalkylene having a melting point slightly above ambient; and c) 100 to 5000 ppm of one or more antioxidant additives.
