  • Patent number: 10777962
Abstract: A polarisation and mode selection technique for a gas waveguide laser is described in which a surface of the waveguide is formed to be substantially dielectric with a localised metallic region therein. The metallic region provides linear polarisation while the dielectric surface provides for low order mode selection. Embodiments are described to channel and planar waveguides with various resonator configurations. Ranges are provided for the size and location of the metallic region on the waveguide surface.

  • Patent number: 9948314
Abstract: Vapor cells and methods for making the same are presented, in which a cell cavity is completely filled with aqueous alkali metal azide solution and the solution is dried at a controlled evaporation rate to substantially maintain edge contact pinning at an interface with the cavity sidewall to promote preferential evaporation in the center and outward capillary flow from an unpinned air-fluid interface toward the sidewall to form crystallized alkali metal material at the sidewall while inhibiting drying of dispersed aqueous solution on a transparent cavity bottom to provide substantially unrestricted passage of light through the cavity for atomic clock and other applications.

  • Publication number: 20060153618
Abstract: A portable label printing system for printing on a variety of materials is disclosed. A retractable platen roller cooperates with a self-aligning print head in three planes cooperates for proper label printing registration. A display screen allows the user to view precisely what the actual label and associated indicia will look like when printed on a selected label. In addition, the printing system includes an optical sensor positioned to sense data marks on the backside of a label, located on a label supply roll, allowing the printing system to identify the label specifications and make necessary adjustments to affect print quality. Reverse feed of the label supply roll is possible. The label printing system further comprises a communication port for cooperation with various devices, such as online databases and computers.

  • Patent number: 5102075
Abstract: An improved cable or bundle tie arrangement includes a plastic tie strap and a tie head. The tie head includes a housing having a pair of spaced apart slots extending therein forming a pair of strap-receiving passageways. Each passageway has an entrance opening and at least one of the passageways has an exit opening. A pawl-receiving channel extends through the housing intermediate the passageways having at least one channel opening disposed substantially normal to the entrance openings. An intermediate portion of the channel intersects each of the passageways. A pawl member is mounted in the channel through the channel opening. The pawl includes a base portion and a pair of arms extending from opposed sides of the base. Each pawl arm has a free end with a blade section.

  • Patent number: 4997011
Abstract: A hand held tool for applying high tension to cable ties and severing the cable tie tail is provided and includes means for positioning the cable tie tail at an upward angle within the tool, linear reciprocating means for tensioning the cable tie tail, severing means to sever the tie tail flush with the cable tie head upon the attainment of a preselected tension level in the tie tail, tie releasing means for releasing the severed tie tail from the tensioning means actuating means which operatively connects the tensioning and severing means and means for applying a restraining force to the actuating means to restrain the actuating means from operation until the preselected tension is achieved in the cable tie tail, whereupon the actuating means actuates the severing means to sever the tie tail. An operative connection which links the tie tensioning means to the actuating means is located within the tool housing above the return spring which reduces the likelihood of the cable ties being over tensioned.

Abstract: A hand held tool for the tensioning and severing of cable ties is provided and includes linear reciprocating means for tensioning the cable tie tail, severing means to sever the tie tail flush with the cable tie head upon the attainment of a preselected tension level in the tie tail, actuating means which operatively connects the tensioning and severing means and which is capable of both pivotal and linear movement and means for applying a restraining force to the actuating means to restrain the actuating means to pivotal movement until the preselected tension is achieved in the cable tie tail, where upon the actuating means moves linearly and actuates the severing means to sever the tie tail. In addition, a selective tension adjusting mechanism comprising a rotating axial cam having a variety of cam surfaces angularly disposed thereon which engage a fixed surface on the tool and each of which corresponds to a preselected tension level to be attained in the cable tie.
