  • Patent number: 5826162
Abstract: A process for facilitating removal of one or more impurities from titaniferous material containing the impurities in a form which is highly soluble in acid. The material is in turn leached with a sulphuric acid solution and with a hydrochloric acid solution in either order. To enhance the susceptibility of the impurities to removal, the hydrochloric acid leach is augmented by one or more of the following: (i) addition of an effective amount of an added chloride salt; (ii) pre-treatment of the titaniferous material with a solution of an effective amount of a carbonate salt, preferably an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal carbonate; and/or (iii) pre-treatment of the titaniferous material with a solution of an effective amount of a hydroxide, preferably an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal hydroxide.

  • Patent number: 5286161
Abstract: A method of producing a silage removal channel. The method comprises the steps of disposing an inflatable tube within an empty silo, inflating the tube, filling the silo with feedstuff, deflating the tube and then withdrawing the same from the interior of the silo to create the silage removal channel within the feedstuff. The created channel is disposed from the uppermost surface of the feedstuff to a discharge port disposed in the exterior wall of the silo. When required feedstuff is introduced into the mouth of the channel, it gravitates through the channel to the discharge port where it may be removed from the silo.

  • Patent number: 4080779
Abstract: The production of plied yarn in pot spinning in which a pot is filled with yarn emerging in one direction from a reciprocating traversing tube. When the pot is filled to the desired extent a lead yarn is injected into the pot by pneumatic means in a direction opposite to the said one direction so that yarn from the traversing tube is wound around the lead yarn. The lead yarn is then withdrawn from the pot in said one direction and the yarn in the pot is wound around further yarn from the traversing tube.
