  • Patent number: 4060191
Abstract: A phosphoric acid flux with good fluxing efficiency and high viscosity, and one which is especially suitable for use in the soldering of copper and copper-plated stainless steel. The flux is in the form of a viscous fluid, or a thermally unstable emulsion when the fluid is combined with a pasty vehicle. The viscous fluid contains phosphoric acid and an organic material (molecular weight between 4,000 and 20,000) from the group consisting of polyethers and polyimines or mixtures thereof having an atomic ratio of carbon to ether oxygen plus imine nitrogen between 1.5 and 3.1.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 25, 1976
Date of Patent: November 29, 1977
    Assignee: Allegheny Ludlum Industries, Inc.
    Inventor: Edward G. Choby, Jr.

  • Patent number: 4032366
Abstract: A process for producing grain-oriented silicon steel, and the steel produced thereby. The process includes the steps of: preparing a melt of silicon steel; casting the steel; hot rolling the steel; cold rolling the steel; decarburizing the steel; final texture annealing the steel; coating the steel with an aqueous solution comprised of from 4 to 30% of phosphate ion, up to 6% magnesium ion, 5 to 34% colloidal silica and 0.15 to 6% hexavalent chromium; and curing the coated steel at a temperature of at least 1200.degree. F.

  • Patent number: 4010050
Abstract: A process for producing electromagnetic silicon steel having a cube-on-edge orientation and a permeability of at least 1850 (G/O.sub.e) at 10 oersteds. The process includes the steps of: preparing an aluminum-bearing melt of silicon steel; casting the steel; hot rolling the steel; cold rolling the steel; decarburizing the steel; coating the steel with a base coating containing an amide and/or imide of an organic and/or inorganic acid; and final texture annealing the steel.
