    Assignee: The Lubrizol Corporation
Inventors: Edward J. Konzman, Richard M. Lange
  • Publication number: 20100099588
Abstract: A lubricant composition of an oil, a dispersant viscosity modifier of a poly(meth)acrylate copolymer having a nitrogen-containing monomer in an amount to provide at least about 0.4 percent by weight nitrogen to the copolymer, and a succinimide dispersant prepared in the substantial absence of chlorine gives good performance as a transmission fluid.

  • Patent number: 6617288
Abstract: This invention relates to an aqueous composition comprising water, a surfactant or thickener, and at least one metal-free thiophosphorus acid ester, at least one amine salt of the thiophosphorus acid ester, or a mixture thereof, wherein the thiophosphorus acid ester contains at least one hydrocarbyl terminated oxyalkylene group, at least one hydrocarbyl terminated polyoxyalkylene group, or a mixture thereof. The aqueous compositions have improved antiwear/extreme pressure properties and improved antioxidation properties. In these compositions, the thiophosphorus acid esters and their salts act as antiwear agents and rust inhibitors.

Date of Patent: September 9, 2003
    Assignee: The Lubrizol Corporation
Inventors: Naresh Chand Mathur, Edward J. Konzman
  • Patent number: 6372842
Abstract: The present invention relates to methods of using an aqueous composition or dispersion containing a water-soluble or water-dispersible synthetic polymer, and compositions formed thereof. The aqueous composition or dispersion is added to agricultural spray compositions, ink compositions, deicing or anti-icing compositions, latex paint and coating compositions, cleaner compositions, adhesives, fire-extinguishing chemical compositions, hydro-metallurgy/electro-winning compositions, compositions having organosilanes, personal care compositions, water-based hydraulic compositions, dust control compositions, and textile finish compositions, to impart properties including aerosol control, spatter control, shear stability, rheology control, transfer efficiency, oil/water reduction, sling control, emollient performance, film forming capability, surface activity, encapsulent ability, lubricity, thickening, and anti-wear capability, to the resultant composition formed thereof.

  • Patent number: 6100226
Abstract: Improved grease compositions comprise a major amount of an oil based metal soap thickened base grease selected from the group consisting of simple metal soap thickened base grease, complex grease and failed complex grease, at least one sulfur and phosphorus containing composition, an overbased metal salt of an organic acid, a hydrocarbyl phosphite, and an aliphatic group substituted carboxylic acid or anhydride thereof, wherein the aliphatic group contains at least about 12 carbon atoms in amounts sufficient to increase the dropping point of the base grease, as measured by ASTM Procedure D-2265 by at least 15.degree. C., the phosphorus and sulfur compound being described in detail herein.
