  • Patent number: 9601951
Abstract: A permanent magnet machine, a rotor assembly for the machine, and a pump assembly. The permanent magnet machine includes a stator assembly including a stator core configured to generate a magnetic field and extending along a longitudinal axis with an inner surface defining a cavity and a rotor assembly including a rotor core and a rotor shaft. The rotor core is disposed inside the cavity and configured to rotate about the longitudinal axis. The rotor assembly further including a plurality of permanent magnets for generating a magnetic field which interacts with the stator magnetic field to produce torque. The permanent magnets configured as one of internal or surface mounted. The rotor assembly also including a plurality of retaining clips configured to retain the plurality of permanent magnets relative to the rotor core. The pump assembly including an electric submersible pump and a permanent magnet motor for driving the pump.

  • Publication number: 20150125325
Abstract: A high temperature connector for use in connecting a power cable to an electric motor includes an outer housing, an inner housing inside the outer housing and a cable conductor disposed through the inner housing. To maintain a seal around the cable conductor during thermal expansion and contraction, the connector includes at least one spring-energized seal disposed around the cable conductor. The spring-energized seal permits the expansion and contraction of the cable conductor without deforming the cable conductor or the inner housing.

  • Publication number: 20140159536
Abstract: An electrical submersible pumping system includes a pump assembly and a motor assembly. The motor assembly includes a plurality of stator coils and each of the plurality of stator coils comprises magnet wire. The magnet wire includes an inner insulation layer and an outer protective layer. The inner insulation layer is preferably constructed from a high-temperature, epitaxial co-crystallized perfluoropolymer that exhibits favorable resistance to elevated temperatures. The outer protective layer shields the inner insulation layer from mechanical abrasion and contaminants.

  • Publication number: 20140154113
Abstract: An electric motor assembly configured for use in a downhole pumping system includes a number of electrically conductive components that are insulated from fluids, mechanical abrasion, electrical current and electrical grounds using an advanced polyimide film. Preferred polyimide films include poly(4,4?-oxydiphenylene-pyromellitimide) and biphenyl-tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride (BPDA) type polyimide films. Magnet wire, stator laminates, stator coil end turns, motor leads and power cables can all be insulated with the selected polyimide film.
