    Abstract: A rod guide or centralizer for a reciprocating rod string which presents minimal resistance to the axial flow of well fluids. The guide offers minimum cross section and turbulence without loss of erodible volume. The guide may be molded on or fitted with an axial slot for field installation. The guide is very long in relation to its diameter to facilitate laminar flow and a low drag coefficient.
