  • Publication number: 20240126120
Abstract: A display may have a pixel array such as a liquid crystal pixel array. The pixel array may be illuminated with backlight illumination from a direct-lit backlight unit. The backlight unit may include an array of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) on a printed circuit board. The display may have a notch to accommodate an input-output component. Reflective layers may be included in the notch. The backlight may include a color conversion layer with a property that varies as a function of position. The light-emitting diodes may be covered by a slab of encapsulant with recesses in an upper surface.

  • Patent number: 7006616
Abstract: In accordance with the principles of the present invention, an audio-conference bridging system and method are provided. The present invention discards the traditional notion of a single mixing function for a conference. Instead, the novel, flexible design of the present invention provides a separate mixing function for each participant in the conference. This new architecture is described generally herein as “EdgePoint mixing.” EdgePoint mixing overcomes limitations of traditional conferencing systems by providing each participant control over his/her conference experience. EdgePoint mixing also allows, when desired, the simulation of a “real-life” conference by permitting each participant to receive a distinctly mixed audio signal from the conference depending on the speaker's “position” within a virtual conference world. The present invention also preferably accommodates participants of different qualities of service.

  • Patent number: 6807563
Abstract: An automatic teleconferencing control system uses a trigger definition database to define trigger criteria and corresponding conference control commands for corresponding trigger functions. Trigger criteria may relate to configuration profiles set for each participant or to conference level policy decisions. Participant attribute changes and media flows among participant stations on a conference are analyzed in accordance with the trigger criteria, and when trigger criteria are identified a corresponding conference control command is issued.

  • Publication number: 20030126141
Abstract: A method of managing and resourcing persons, skill sets and project requirements is provided. The method includes means for defining resources and project requirements, examining both the resources and project requirements and matching the available resources to the projects as appropriate. The method also provides for increased visibility among the persons involved in the identification, staffing and completion of professional services and/or consulting projects.

  • Patent number: 6056881
Abstract: A bilge water filtration system for removing petroleum-based liquid contaminants from the bilge water as it is being pumped from the bilge to a bilge water discharge outlet in the hull of a marine vessel, such as a boat or yacht. The filtration system employs filtration media enclosed in a modular unit equipped with a fill tube, such that media can be readily installed in the system, and then later removed to allow for subsequent destruction or recycling of the contaminants trapped by the media. The filtration system of this invention is adapted to be installed in-line with an existing bilge pumping system on boats and yachts of practically any size, and without requiring special modifications to the pumping system. In addition, the filtration system does not impede the operation of the bilge pumping system, but allows the flow bilge water to flow from the boat's bilge at conventional flow rates and with a minimal pressure drop caused by the filtration system.

  • Patent number: 4042356
Abstract: In a bag house, the flat cell plate has integral annular walls drawn outwardly from the plane of the cell plate, the walls each terminating in a lip forming a circular opening lying in a plane parallel and spaced from the plane of the cell plate. Vertical tubular filter bags are secured to the cell plate by a spring in each bag which forces an outwardly facing groove on the open end of the bag into engagement with the lip to which the bag is attached.
