  • Publication number: 20210346962
Abstract: The devices, systems, and methods of the present disclosure are directed to spreader positioning techniques for consistent and rapid layer-by-layer fabrication of three-dimensional objects formed through binder jetting. For example, an additive manufacturing system may include a roller and a print carriage. In a layer-by-layer fabrication process, the roller may move in advance of the print carriage over a dimension of a volume to spread a respective layer of powder onto which the print carriage delivers a binder. Controlling the position of the roller may facilitate achieving consistent layer characteristics which, in turn, may facilitate fabrication of high quality parts.

  • Patent number: 11071912
Abstract: Provided is a method, computer program product, and virtual reality system for mapping detected external stimuli to visual stimuli within a virtual reality simulation. A processor may detect an audio stimulus external to a virtual reality simulation. The processor may compare a noise level of the detected external audio stimulus to a threshold noise level relative to internal audio in the virtual reality simulation. The processor may identify, in response to determining that the noise level of the detected external audio stimulus is greater than the threshold noise level, a sound corresponding to the detected external audio stimulus. The processor may retrieve environmental factors of the virtual reality simulation. The processor may map the detected external audio stimulus to a visual stimulus in the virtual reality simulation based on the identified type of sound and the environmental factors. The processor may produce the visual stimulus in the virtual reality simulation.

  • Publication number: 20210131779
Abstract: This is a measuring tool for use in the installation of metal roofing when such metal roofing must be cut in order to fit along valleys in the roof structure. Valleys are places where the roof surface changes direction, such as where the roof of a gable joins the main body of the roof. The tool measures the point at which the metal roofing panel is to be cut by sliding the base of the tool down the last rib of the last installed panel until the tip of the pointer arm touches the chalk like along which the next panel must fit. The distance from the top of said last panel to the bottom of the base of the tool corresponds to the distance from the top of the new panel to the point at which its leading edge should be cut to fit along the chalk line.

  • Publication number: 20210007794
Abstract: A method and apparatus for ablating tissue are disclosed that comprise positioning two or more bi-directional ablation energy sources in spaced-apart relation in sufficient proximity to the tissue to be ablated so that, upon activation each energy source creates an energy field in the tissue to be ablated. The energy sources are spaced such that the energy fields created by at least one of the activated sources partially overlaps with the energy field created by one or more of the other energy sources. The energy sources are alternately activated and deactivated, so that a substantially constant energy field results where the energy fields created by at least two of the energy sources overlap. While the energy sources are preferably RF energy sources, other energy sources, such as microwave, may be used.

  • Publication number: 20200413032
Abstract: Methods and apparatus to render 3D content within a moveable region of a display screen. An example apparatus includes a projection system controller adapted to be coupled to a light source and to be optically coupled to a screen panel, the projection system controller configured to determine a location of a region within a viewing area of the screen panel to display content. The region is to be smaller than the viewing area. The location of the region is to move within the viewing area to track a motion path, the content including different stereoscopic views. The projection system controller configured to activate the light source to project light corresponding to the content toward the region. The screen panel includes a light redirecting surface to produce a 3D light field associated with the different stereoscopic views.

  • Patent number: 10847180
Abstract: A method including obtaining a target actuation efficiency slope that is a linear function of temperature when a fixed active clearance is maintained between a transducing head and an adjacent storage surface in a sealed storage device. The target efficiency slope is obtained at least in part by a temperature dependence calibration of actuation efficiency. An operating temperature of the storage device is measure. Power to a clearance adjustment mechanism is adjusted to achieve the target actuation efficiency slope at the measured operating temperature.
