  • Patent number: 8598391
Abstract: Processes for reducing the color of polytrimethylene ether glycol or copolymers thereof are provided. The processes include polycondensing diols in the presence of an acid catalyst and adding base continuously over a period of the polycondensation reaction. The invention also relates to the polytrimethylene ether glycol thereof produced by these processes.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 29, 2010
Date of Patent: December 3, 2013
Assignee: E I du Pont de Nemours and Company
Inventors: Aaron Minter, Edward R. Murphy, Howard C. Ng, Rupert Spence, Tuyu Xie
  • Patent number: 8344098
Abstract: Processes for producing polytrimethylene ether glycol and copolymers thereof are provided wherein, by condensing and recycling at least a portion of the vapor phase produced as the reaction progresses, the yield loss and polymer color are reduced.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 17, 2010
Date of Patent: January 1, 2013
Assignee: E I du Pont de Nemours and Company
Inventors: Christian Hoffmann, Scott Christopher Jackson, Edward R. Murphy, Bhuma Rajagopalan
  • Patent number: 8247526

  • Patent number: 4472855
Abstract: An upper mounting portion of a support stand is connected to a carpet cleaning wand between two handles. A lower support leg of the stand is pivotally movable between an in-use position and a stowed position. In its in-use position the lower support leg is in affect an endwise extension of the mount and together with the inlet end of the wand forms a three point support, supporting the wand in an elevated attitude closely approximating the wands in-use attitude. A single spring serves to bias the support leg in both its in-use position and its stowed position.
