  • Patent number: 5980001
Abstract: A ground penetrating traction stud for attaching to a flexible track, the stud having a longitudinal axis, a penetrating member formed with a contact face, a reinforcing rib and a pair of transition facets extending between the edges of the contact face and the reinforcing rib. The contact face may be inclined at an angle between about 3.degree. and 10.degree. to the longitudinal axis.

  • Patent number: 5401088
Abstract: A traction assembly including a directional backing plate and threaded nut for securing a traction device relative to a flexible rotatable track. The backing plate and nut define curvilinear peripheries defined by a major axis and a minor axis, wherein the major axis is greater than the minor axis. The backing plate and T-nut cooperatively engage the stud relative to the track, such that the major axis is substantially perpendicular to the direction of rotation of the track, and the minor axis is substantially parallel to the direction of rotation. One of the T-nut and the backing plate include prongs for partially penetrating the track in the region of the traction assembly.

  • Patent number: 5284386
Abstract: A traction device including a bit having a penetrating surface for penetrating a riding surface. The penetrating surface defines the cross sectional area of the bit and includes a plurality of facets wherein each facet intersects a common vertex. In a second embodiment, the penetrating surface defines an oval cross section transverse to the direction of penetration into a riding surface, wherein the circumference of the cross section increases as the distance from the tip increases.

  • Patent number: 5273351
Abstract: A directional backing plate and threaded nut for securing the traction device relative to a flexible rotatable track. The backing plate and nut define noncircular curvilinear peripheries defined by a major axis and a minor axis, wherein the major axis is greater than the minor axis. The backing plate and threaded nut cooperatively engage the stud relative to the track, such that the major axis is substantially perpendicular to the direction of rotation of the track, and the minor axis is substantially parallel to the direction of rotation.
