  • Patent number: 5006970
Abstract: In a fluorescent light fixture having a panel for supporting thereon an electrical socket assembly for holding a fluorescent tube, a simple, mechanical, manually-effected interlock for securing the socket assembly in a tube-receiving and supporting mode on the panel. The panel itself is formed with a non-rectangular cut-out zone for receiving an upwardly extending wall of the socket assembly inserted upwardly through the cut-out zone, and a base of the socket assembly being then shiftable arcuately to effect interengaging intercoupling between a laterally-opening slot in the base of the socket assembly and a projecting edge of the panel bounding the cut-out zone formed therein. A dimple-like deformation formed in the panel on an underside thereof defines a detent to deter inadvertent mechanical separation of the socket assembly from the panel.

  • Patent number: 4827386
Abstract: A lighting fixture having a unitary, combination pan-like, wrap-around housing integrally formed with a refractor lens of high-impact plastics material. The housing is hermetically sealed to a heat-dissipating cast metal plate of the fixture through the medium of a resilient sealing bead interposed and mechanically confined between a base flange extending outwardly of bounding side walls of the housing and a face of the base plate at a marginal zone thereof. The housing is stressingly urged againast the sealing bead by means of housing and plate-carried inter-engaging tabs and slots in conjunction with threaded bolts exending through side walls of the housing and matingly engaging threads in bores formed in posts integrally formed with the base plate. The bores are angled so as to effect a positive displacement of the housing toward, to seal with the base plate during threaded advance of the bolts into the threaded bores of the base plate.

  • Patent number: 4633377
Abstract: A light-distributing diffuser for an electrical lighting fixture. The diffuser is rectangular in transverse section and is generally in the shape of an inverted truncated pyramid having an enlarged base and a reduced, outwardly-extending end. The outwardly extending end of the truncated pyramid is surmounted by a vaulted, quadri-faceted cap. The walls of the diffuser are formed with an array of fluted, groove-like channels extending longitudinally along the side and including arrays having channels of lesser and of greater radii of transverse curvature, the arrays being disposed symmetrically with respect to a longitudinally extending center line of each side. The cap is formed on each of four side-connected triangular panels thereof with a pair of laterally-adjacent arrays of fluted channels angled to converge and to intersect along a center line of each panel and along abutting side edges of said panels, to direct illumination diagonally and to achieve an essentially rectangular beam light pattern.
