Patent number: 11919290Abstract: Magnetic or magnetizable particles contained in a coating agent can be aligned using a device that includes a cylinder having a plurality of magnetic elements around its outer circumference. The magnetic elements are arranged in a matrix having columns extending in the circumferential direction and rows extending in an axially parallel manner. The magnetic elements in some columns are mounted as a group on a shared carrier element, and have a variable axial position collectively as a group and independently of the magnetic elements of an adjoining column. In these columns, at least one of the magnetic elements is arranged on the carrier element of a multi-piece cylinder body of the cylinder so as to be adjustable in the axial direction, by way of a mechanical adjusting means, and independently of at least one further magnetic element of the same column which is mounted on the same carrier element.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 2022Date of Patent: March 5, 2024Assignee: KOENIG & BAUER AGInventors: Eugen Beck, Edwin Kreps, Björn Kriege

Publication number: 20220252468Abstract: A method for calorimetry includes providing a sample to a test chamber and applying heat to the test chamber with the sample provided therein, the heat being applied at a known heat rate. In a synchronized manner with respect to applying heat to the test chamber, transmission of light through plural Nano Hole Array (NHA) sensors coupled to the test chamber is measured to obtain a series of extraordinary optical transmission (EOT) measurements. A calorimetry measurement is calculated as a function of the heat rate and the series of EOT measurements, the calorimetry measurement being indicative of energy released as a result of the sample undergoing a change during the application of heat to the test chamber. Samples, including fluids and solids, can be transferred into the test chamber by a pump or other suitable means. Example test chambers include a microchannel injection cell and a co-flow reactor microchannel.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 8, 2022Publication date: August 11, 2022Inventors: Gregory J. Patent number: 7770394Abstract: A remote power supply system associated with offshore hydrocarbon production and transportation operations includes an expansion turbine that generates power for the system. The remote power supply system also has a support structure that supports the expansion turbine. A cooling section is supported by the support structure, and is in fluid communication with the expansion turbine to receive the vapor therefrom and to condense it to liquid. A downcomer and boiler section is in fluid communication with the cooling section to receive the liquid condensed from the vapor. An ignition assembly is positioned toward a lower end portion of the downcomer and boiler section. The ignition assembly ignites a fuel and air mixture and causes the liquid received by the downcomer and boiler section from the cooling section to boil into vapor. A return passage conveys vapor from the downcomer and boiler section to the inlet of the expansion turbine.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 2007Date of Patent: August 10, 2010Assignee: Chevron U.S.A. Inc.Inventor: Blaine Edwin Beck

Publication number: 20060127616Abstract: A method of curing a heat curable coating on a heat sensitive substrate includes initially heating the coated substrate by exposure to infrared radiation in order to increase the temperature at a point near to the coating with time, and subsequently heating the coated substrate by contact with a warm fluid in order to increase the temperature at a point near to the coating with time. After subsequently heating the coated substrate, the coating can be substantially cured, the coating can have good optical quality, and the heat sensitive substrate can be not substantially deformed.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 10, 2004Publication date: June 15, 2006Applicant: GRAHAM PACKAGING COMPANY, L.P.Inventor: Edwin Beck
