To dehumidify the clothes gently and economically in terms of energy consumption, a method and apparatus for dehumidifying clothes includes bringing the clothes into contact with at least one absorption body of an absorbent material. Advantageously, a rotating absorbent body is used, its sections being continuously alternately brought into contact with an item of clothing and dehumidified by pressing.

Abstract: In household appliances with a safety hose, the stop valve and the control valve are hydraulically connected in series. It is thus impossible, or very difficult, for the user to detect when one of the valves is operating erroneously and not closing completely. The functioning of the control valve and of the stop valve is checked each time the household appliance is used. For this purpose, the valves and are alternately opened and closed in a selected phase during operation, or are opened and closed one after the other. The change over time in the measured values is recorded and evaluated in a suitable manner at a pressure sensor and/or at a throughflow meter. On account of the multiple use of the measuring sensors that are present, the cost of implementing the method is restricted to expanding the control system software.

Abstract: The invention relates to a washing machine in which the supplementary ventilation line is connected to an opening as high as possible on the washing tub and running to a nozzle, arranged as high as possible on the detergent flushing device, by means of an additional ventilation system which provides a ventilation to prevent an accident with a stopped machine and a closed door. The detergent introduction line runs from the detergent flushing device to an inlet nozzle, placed as far as possible from the ventilation nozzle in the upper region of the washing tub, such that no reservoirs of water can form in the line. Both lines are connected to the atmosphere by means of the flushing device. According to the invention, the ventilation system provides an adequate supply of fresh air. Noise on operation of the washing machine is adequately damped and the foam and water vapor outlet can be as good as excluded.

Abstract: Instead of desiccating articles of clothing by spinning the articles, the method and apparatus according to the invention removes moisture from these articles by pressing or drying them with the aid of hot air. Desiccation of the clothing articles occurs gently and with a low expenditure of energy by subjecting the articles to the action of at least one gas jet and, in particular, of a compressed air jet, which is not aligned parallel to the surface of the article of clothing to exert a force upon the article.
