  • Patent number: 10947399
Abstract: Herein is described a piezo-jettable varnish composition comprising a latex polymer having a weight averaged molecular weight Mw of greater than about 50 000, a polymeric salt derived from an acidic polymer having a weight averaged molecular weight Mw in the range of about 1000 to about 50 000, water, and a co-solvent, wherein, the latex polymer and polymeric salt are present in amounts such that the ratio of latex polymer to polymeric salt by weight is in the range of greater than about 1:1 to about 8:1.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 10618258
Abstract: Herein is described a method of applying foil from a foil web to a substrate. The method may comprise: ink-jet printing a UV-curable adhesive onto the substrate in a predetermined image area; subjecting the adhesive to a first curing by exposing the adhesive to UV light in a dosage range of 140-170 mJ/cm2; passing the substrate and a foil web through a nip where the foil web is pressed against the adhesive; subjecting the adhesive disposed between the substrate and the foil web to a second curing by exposing the adhesive to UV light in a dosage of at least 250 mJ/cm2; and separating excess foil from the substrate, to leave foil on the predetermined image area. Substrates and UV-curable adhesives are also described.

  • Patent number: 8460450
Abstract: The present invention is drawn to ink compositions and methods for ink-jet recording. The ink-jet ink can comprise water and at least 20 wt % solids. The solids can include pigment particulates and silica particulates dispersed in the ink-jet ink, as well as solid humectant substantially dissolved in the ink-jet ink. The pigment particulates, silica particulates, and solid humectant substantially remain with a dried image that is printed using the ink-jet ink of the present invention.

Date of Patent: June 11, 2013
    Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
Inventors: Liat Taverizatshy, Or Brandstein, Efrat Soroker, Eylan Cohen
  • Patent number: 7837318
Abstract: The present invention is drawn to photo-curable ink-jet ink compositions, systems, and methods. One exemplary ink-jet ink composition includes a liquid vehicle, a milled pigment which has been milled in a milling solvent having minimal to no gas solvency for the milled pigment, and a photo initiator. In this embodiment, the composition can be ink-jettable at frequencies of at least 29 KHz without requiring degassing during printing.

  • Patent number: 7726799
Abstract: The present invention is drawn to ink compositions and methods for ink-jet recording. The ink compositions can include a non-aqueous HAPS-free solvent system; a binder system, including at least one of i) an acrylic resin, or ii) a first vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate resin, which is at least substantially soluble in the solvent system; and a pigment milled in the presence of a second vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate resin. Further, at least one solvent of the solvent system can serve as a dispersing and diluent solvent for the pigment.
